This was really good, I liked the main characters and thought their motivations were compelling. The story was heart breaking and came to a satisfying conclusion, and all the while the art style was gorgeous and reminiscent of the time period.

I feel like I need to already know the story to follow what’s going on. All the gangster drama, it’s really hard for me to tell who’s who since all these white dudes look the same. Which gangster is doing what? I have no idea unless they’re named on the page.

Hollywood Noir with a female protagonist. Unusual enough that I gave it a try, and it did not disappoint.

This could've been really cool - Old Hollywood, a murder, the mob - there were a lot of really appealing elements in this one. Unfortunately, ALL OF THE CHARACTERS LOOKED THE SAME. Like, seriously. I couldn't tell them apart. And in a story with a ton of characters told in a graphic format, that's pretty important. It made it reaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllly hard to follow the story, which I think I would've otherwise liked. The story also felt a bit rushed - instead of being told in 5 issues, it may have benefited from twice as many. Hard to say, though, as the artwork really ruined it for me. 2 stars.

I thought this sounded so interesting with the hollywood glamour and the volante mob, but I was rather bored. I finished about half and then put it down for at least a week before forcing myself to finish it. I was having a really hard time follwing all the different characters and players in the story. They all kept mushing together and I just was lost and it was just a dud unfortunately.

Eh. Kind of muddled and gets too bogged down in plot points that it ultimately discards. Not recommended.

I loved this for what it was, just a gangster story. The art is impeccable and perfect for a noir feel without a full noir style. I love the cross of fictional and real gangster history. It was interesting and okay with blood but not unnecessarily gory. It’s nothing to write home about in terms of doing something spectacular but it does a beautiful job of doing exactly what it set out to do.

I love and adore anything that even speaks to a noir settings with mobsters and old glamour, so I love whenever a new issue of Angel City comes out.
This is the second to last issue, and our protagonist Delores is sure in a lot of trouble.

She's constantly being shot at and putting her life on the line in this issue and the stakes were very high and very present. I'm glad she's got multiple people looking out for her, and even though she's been slightly diverted off course, I really believe someone as strong as her can take down the bad guys.

I love that Angel City draws inspiration from real life people and real life events because it just adds that bit extra to the drama.

I'm gonna miss this comic when it ends, but we sure are better for having it.

Missed this series when it was going monthly, but caught up with the trade. Really well-researched and well-written. Love the way Harvey expands the world with every issue. Murder plot can get a bit lost, but otherwise really strong.

I adored this Film Noir romp. It is an enjoyable - if not terrible original - story of a wannabe starlet, her photographer maybe boyfriend and various bad guys. I think my favorite part were the write ups at the end... or maybe it was her motorcycle...
