Short, sweet, and hot.
Katee adds another fun story to the Out of Uniform series with two characters who've been mentioned before and who heat up their Christmas holiday with a game of truth or dare.

"Got you, Freckles."

Recently relieved of her spot on the New York stage, Erin Robinson finds herself in the one place she'd really rather not be. Forced to return home to Wellington, and, worse, to move back to her parents' home, she couldn't be feeling any less jolly, Christmastime or no. To make matters worse, she's been stood up by her blind date. What could make the night go further downhill? The appearance of Erin's frenemy-with-benefits, Warren Davis, back home in Wellington after his stint in the military. She's not ready for another run-in with him, but Warren has plans of his own.

I am a hardcore fan of the Entangled Brazen books, and of the Out of Uniform series by Katee Robert. Although HIS TO TAKE is a novella, and shorter than the other books, it is still chock-full of the signature steam, sass, and romance typical to these reads.

Erin has wanted to shake off the dust of Wellington for most of her life. Warren is happy to be home, and he's ready to show Erin that the time for them to put aside their back-and-forth dance and make things more permanent has come. What better way than a friendly and oh, so hot, game of Truth Or Dare? You can see where this is going...

I love Warren, and his unique way of turning things around; it doesn't hurt that this former man in uniform is darned sexy and knows exactly what he wants. And Erin is full of the spunk and sass I've come to expect from Katee's ladies, which makes things much more interesting.

This is an easy 4.5 stars for me, and an even easier recommendation, even if you haven't read any of the other books. If you're looking for a sexy shot of holiday love, add this one to your TBR, and enjoy.

I received an eARC of the book in exchange for an honest review.

This book took all the excitement I had from the blurb and turned into a dud and that just makes me angry.

I have been on a binge of second chance romances – that angst filled communications between two (ex)lovers and their way back to each other somehow currently warms my heart and this book was supposed to have been a part of that binge but it sadly never met my expectations.

On one hand you have a heroine who is back home to lick her wounds and on the other hand you have a Marine with fear of commitment. On the night that they are together, everything comes to head – from their attraction to their inability to move on from each other.

Don’t get me wrong, there isn’t anything wrong with the plot or the writing or even the characters themselves but somehow all of them together never really made an impact on me when I was reading and by the last page, I was thrumming with dissatisfaction – this could have been an amazing romance, one for the stars even *which meant I would have re-read it* but somehow it failed to make a zing and that just made me sad rather than angry by the end of this book.

Erin moved home to lick her wounds after losing the role of a lifetime on Broadway. She finds herself at alone at a bar after being stood up and that's when Warren shows up. Never one to back down from a challenge, Erin finds herself being drawn into a game of Truth or Dare.

What starts out as an innocent game, quickly turns into much more. The two of them slowly start to realize that the feelings they have for each other are very real. They had hooked up in the past, but the timing was never right. Erin wanted to make it on Broadway and Warren enlisted in the Marines. But now they are in the same town at the same time. Warren's visit seems temporary while Erin is there for the foreseeable future.

Just when things seem to be falling into place, everything falls apart. I like Erin and Warren together so I found myself rooting for them to figure things out and be together. They already had a history, the chemistry between them was strong and they were very hot when they got hot and heavy.

I really enjoyed this book. It was short and sweet with a little hot thrown in there for good measure. It's a quick read and if you're a fan of Katee's writing, you will certainly enjoy it.
