Kept me guessing

Great plot and lots of twists and turns! Science geek or murder mystery geek, you’ll love this fast-paced story with a very likable narrator.

Far fetched? Probably. Did I finish it in half a day? Definitely. Overall really enjoyed this book and excited to read more from the series.

Totally loved it. Geeky protagonist who is not a law enforcement officer or a detective but is determined to find the perp. Not a bulletproof plot, but I liked how the professor tells us 'why' he's thinking what he's thinking.

DNF @ 20%. So I really struggled with abandoning this several times and finally gave it the heave ho. I liked the first few chapters: the tense opener and the following interrogation. Well written, tense. But then when the tension went away it began to get ridiculous, especially the narrator's self pity. It was too much. Sorry.

I enjoyed the science that was injected into this mystery by the Scientific Professor, Theo Cray, who uses bioinformatics to solve all kinds of dilemmas. The book starts out very slowly, but is a page-turner by the end. Character building was shallow, even for those characters that we really would like to know better, and the premise, while novel, seemed far-fetched. The writing style, with short, action-based sentences, propelled the story forward, but I’m not a fan. Still, good for an airplane flight, or a quick, mindless read. Recommended for fans of low-brow writing.
