I liked, but didn't love, this book. But one glance at all the four and five star ratings I see here tells me I'm in the minority.

I think it's intended as a YA book, but I was the age of the narrator during the time of which she wrote, which made it more interesting. My heart really went out to the protagonist as she grappled with love and loss and being a teenager and as she wondered how and when and to whom she could express herself. It was well written and engaging.

Excellent. This made me feel.

2.5 rounded up to a 3.
There were times where I adored this book. I loved Toby and Finn. I loved being able to hear about their relationship. June's relationship with the two of them really creeped me out which is my reasoning for the amount of stars. Don't even get me started on my hatred for their mother.

3.5 stars, rounded up.

Strongly evocative of adolescence (I'll always remember the narrator's longing for the time when her signature would "stick"), this novel is a beautiful reminder of the ways we formulate our ideas about family, community, and love.
