I'll be honest: I wasn't sure how to rate this book. I had mixed sentiments at the beginning of the story, but I'm glad it picked up around halfway. It elicited all of the emotions and angst I was hoping for. The action was excellent, though I was frustrated by the absence of thereof in the middle part of the book, and by how the love triangle between Zayne, Layla, and Roth seemed to be taking over the plot. However, it improved a lot towards the conclusion, so I ended up liking everything.

Additionally, I think this is a better Dark Elements installment. The writing was excellent and executed well. There were twists I didn't see ahead. In this book, I was also able to get to know and relate to the characters a lot better, as well as grasp the world they're in a lot effectively. I honestly appreciated it and everything it revealed more than its predecessor.

I thought Layla's character was outstanding in this installment of the Dark Elements. She had more personality/backbone, and stood up for herself. It was amazing to witness her truly fight and defend herself. And, despite the fact that she still has room for improvement yet, I've learned to appreciate her even more, and I admired her growth in this book.

Furthermore, I also appreciated Roth's character development and how it progressed. He always went out of his way for Layla and was willing to protect her at any cost. I just wished that we got to see more of him in this book, since it seemed like the spotlight had been on Zayne. And, speaking of Zayne, I was coming to like him. I'm thrilled that he finally had a chance to woo Layla. He was a great character, but he could be a little too protective/controlling at times. Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to reading more about him in the next installment.

All things considered, what I DID NOT really like about this story and the very reason I gave it a four-star rating was the fact that Layla acted on her feelings for both Zayne and Roth. She led both of them on at the same time, alternately being with one and thinking about the other. Although I believe Roth was a better fit for Layla, I can't deny that I've grown fond of Zayne as well. That's all.

Stone Cold Touch was an excellent read overall. Despite the fact that it had its flaws and rough patches, I had a great time. As a result, I've decided to give this book four stars. Now, if you enjoy reading YA fantasy/paranormal fiction, this is the book for you.

Jennifer L. Armentrout is a perfect-male-i-wan't-to-marry-you machine.
This is easily the best love triangle I have ever encountered. Like it was perfect.
I still prefer Roth, but I don't hate Zayne, which is an improvement from all the other love triangles I have seen in my life.
I loved this book so much. Every single aspect of it was done so well and it just strengthened my love for this series.
This is paranormal romance at its finest and more people should talk about this.
By the way, Roth, please exist I love you

It’s official, I love Roth, even tho I was already in love with him in the first book. Broooooo he admitted that he loved her then she though she imagined it. But zayan I don’t like just alittle like why would he forgive her after she took some of his soul. I do hope she ends up with Roth tho becuase he’s the best. Unless he does something incredibly stupid I will probably love him.

Well, I cannot say that I didn’t see daddy Abbott doing all the things he did, as usual. However, I did not see the twisted web weaved between Roth, Zayne, and Layla’s relationship. The end of this book is honestly one I expected, and I’m hoping that now Layla will finally grow into herself and become the badass she can be because the power of Christ compels her. Regardless, I’m still Team Roth all the way,
but I feel the price the coven asked for in order to save her is probably too steep even for him.
. I guess the third installment will set me free.

4.5 stars

Slight deduction in rating from the first book because not enough Roth. Never enough Roth. If Roth won't end up with Layla, there will be a major deduction with the third book. Just sayin'. :P

Still so much love for this series.

Also, I figured out Sam was Lilin way before the big reveal. I'm sad. Hoping they can somehow miraculously save him.

I contemplated giving this book four stars for a few seconds. Then I remembered, last night I couldn’t put this book down for the life of me. I stayed up until 2 am and had to survive on 4h of sleep for a day. I did it with no regrets. This book made me feel angry, sad, hopeful, it made me laugh, it brought me such an extensive roller coaster of emotions. I don’t care if it’s not the most “well thought out” plot, I don’t care if it’s not the most mature, beautifully written book. It did it’s job. It was addicting, I care about the characters, I lived in their world the whole time and I almost forgot who I was for long periods of time. If this isn’t what a five star book should do then I don’t know what is. Jennifer Armentrout has won the place of one of my new favorite writers. Entertaining, exciting, action-packed, filled with romance and sensuality, the covers of this series might look ridiculous (jen’s editors really did her dirty on this one) but this is one of my new favorite series. Even if it’s silly and it feels a little bit like teenage drama, this was such a wild ride. So hard to put down. My love for the supernatural series also reignited along with these books. This was perfect. Good job Jen. Can’t wait to start reading the next one tomorrow. Let me just catch up on my sleep real quick before I die lol
