Talk about EPIC cliffhanger!!! Totally didn't see that one coming! Can't wait for the last book!
3.5/5 stars. I can't believe I had to endure this book to get to the finale. I also can't believe that JLA made a poll for her fans to choose from. Honestly, what the fuck.
I guess I can see why we needed to delve into the relationship between Layla and Zayne, but do I think their love ignited sparks hot enough to question her relationship with Roth? Absolutely not. This is why I absolutely loathe triangles because I don't believe they can ever be done well.
I can't imagine loving two people at once unless there were other internal struggles involved. Having read Storm and Fury before this book, I automatically knew that I did not want Zayne and Layla together. Just because you pine doesn't mean you're meant to be, does it? And when I learned that JLA made a poll for people to choose who she would be with, I was a little annoyed.
Actually, I was big mad, but whatever. I'm going to let it go because she gave us the Lux series and her new fantasy novel. Overall, I'm glad to have learned more about Zayne and his backstory. Although, I wish we got more time with Roth, of course.

"Pressure clamped down on my chest and a ball of emotion formed in my throat. The past two weeks had seconds of warmth and light, but unless hours of darkness and loss. I never lost someone I'd been close to before or remember. I didn't know how to grieve or move on. Missing Roth was like watching a door to a life you hadn't dared dream of shut in your face."
Wowowowowowow...
I'm ashamed that it took me so long to read this book. The first book took me by surprise. I loved every moment of it and the second book, Stone Cold Touch, was no exception.
Stone Cold Touch picks up with Layla, Roth and Zayne following the events of the first book. They mistakenly think that everything is okay after Roth sacrificed himself and stopped the ritual. He unexpectedly returns from Hell with an important mission. Find the Lilin.
I usually don't seek out paranormal romances, but I think I should. Armentrout blends the paranormal aspects of the characters perfectly so that the reader can understand the characters on a human level. Despite Layla's abilities, her struggles reflect those of her age. She struggles with finding a balance between who she is and who she thinks she should and who she is told she should be (this struggle is not unique to Layla, or any teenager for that matter).
Roth and Zayne are both well developed male protagonists. I usually find with love triangles that one male lead is more developed and obviously more suited to be the main love interest or the love interest that will end up with the female protagonist. But with this book I feel like both Roth and Zayne could end up with Layla (however I'm definitely team Roth). There are many delicious moments that make the reader swing back and forth between Roth and Zayne.
And that ending! Crazy!
Overall, Jennifer L. Armentrout can do NO wrong. This book is fun, exciting, surprising, and hot! You will not be disappointed!

Enjoying this series. Could use less relationship drama though

ok i liked this one more than the first. a solid 4/5 stars because i'm just a sucker for male love interests being like "you're the only person i'll love for eternity and i'd die for you". i'm lame. also happy the reveal happened in this book and not the third because since i knew about it i was getting angry it wasn't happening. ok bye
