(4.5) Really enjoyable but it was a tad bit predictable.
I think that JLA's books would be appreciated more if they hadn't these horrid covers. I mean, on almost every cover of her books there's a couple. Publishers please stop! The only decent covers are, in my opinion, the covers of the Covenant series and the cover of Don't Look Back. So what I'm saying is that this series is amazing and unique but sadly due to the covers nobody will give it a try, because she/he will think that this is a cheesy romance.
Anyway,
I think that the 2nd book is even better than the first one but what irritated me the most was the love triangle. It's not like I hate the characters, it's just that I'm getting tired of the drama. I honestly don't care with whom she ends up with. I love both boys. And for those of you who read the book, I knew something was up with HIM the moment he started dressing differently and acting so strangely. Also, I love that JLA excluded the angels and put some badass gargoyles in the story instead of them, although they don't seem that badass anymore.

“The loss of innocence refers to carnal sin and it's not like you have to do the deed to experience the pleasure of sin. Correct?!..
Cayman dipped his chin.
'In other words, all she needed to do was to have an orgasm..And most likely not by herself.'
..Someone kill me now!
..'Well.' Roth drew the word out.'This is awkward.'
I slowly lowered my hands.'You think?”

The first book was a fun enough read, but this one was kind of a slog. The characters that were basically walking tropes to begin with became parodies of themselves. Nothing. Happened! The whole book. I'm usually pretty comfortable with a character driven story, but this was a nothing driven story. It wasn't horrendous to read and I did finish it, but it was just so meh. And I cannot forgive the author for writing the description "demented kewpie doll" for not one, but two main characters.
I still like Roth and that ending dang come on July!!!!1
4.5/5
My ship took some hits throughout this book, but I think we doing alright.
