Wasn't this a treat! Luna escaped to the Cotswolds as an excuse to avoid being a bridesmaid at the wedding of her ex and her ex-best friend. While there, she interacted with her handsome landlord Rhys.

He came off as grumpy at first, having been jaded by love a few years before, but cute run-ins between these two had him warming up to Luna very quickly.

I loved the pub setting from the onset. It had a quaint feel to it with its charming patrons and club meetings. The side characters were also amazing; I loved how another love story was woven into the novel.

While she had been clearly wronged, I loved that the ending and how she made peace with the hand that had been dealt her. Rhys was ever so supportive and swoony, as a book boyfriend should be

It was cute. I liked Rhys and Luna as characters and Hamish and Ruby where fun. I loved the vibe of small town in England and all that.

I this story struck a little too close to my personal life and things I faced, so it was hard to enjoy the story when I kept thinking “oof I relate to Luna” lol

All in all, a cute read.
4.5/5 stars
Content: woman is pregnant before getting married. Divorcee. Cheating wife.

"...if this was the sort of man England offered up as eye candy, I was in for a few cavities."

There are so many clever lines in
Cotswolds Holiday by Kasey Stockton. It is is such a perfect, cosy, Christmas read with mad sexual tension. Luna, the main character, is delightful and undergoes some real growth. Rhys is everything that a "Hot British Guy" should be. Did I look at AirBnBs in the Cotswolds after reading this book? 100%. Also, my hot take is that I would just send a good gift and a heartfelt text. Thanks to Kasey for letting me review this ARC ❤️

Luna, running away from her problems over the holidays, opts for a spontaneous vacation to the Cotswalds. She stays in a pub run by two cousins, one of which is Rhys, aka Hot British Guy. Luna becomes her best self in the Cotswolds, but where will she spend Christmas?

Such a cozy holiday rom-com. I picked this up because it was featured in a Bookstagram reel that suggested if you like the movie ,The Holiday, you’ll enjoy this book. With just the right balance of holiday spirit, blended with romance and humor and set in the quaint English countryside-I definitely enjoyed this read.
The interactions between our main character Luna and the charming English pub-owner, Rhys were fun-sort of a grumpy/sunshine vibe. I especially enjoyed the small community setting in Showshill and the town’s people who hang out in the pub. If you’re looking for something to put you in the holiday spirit, this will do the trick!

3.5, rounded up to 4 out of 5. The FMC is helpful but almost to the point of being a pushover. Didn’t love the ending but it was a cute Christmas read - snowy December in a quaint English village

I love this! I love Luna and her personality. I love the growth that Luna goes through and Rhys’ steady presence. Rhys is very swoony and he can cook. The setting is amazing! All the side characters are very lovable and diverse. I love that the author didn’t make the ex boyfriend into a horrible guy.
I recommend to those who love Christmas RomComs and Kasey Stockton’s writing. Such a great addition to the Christmas Escape series!

Thank you to the author for the eARC. All opinions are my own.

Reader’s Notes:

– this is part of a series, but meant to be read as a stand-alone

– this is told from Luna’s point of view

Review:

I loved this escape to England! I’ve never been, so some of the things (mainly foods) that Luna encountered made me feel the same way Luna did about them! It was interesting to see the differences in cultures and meanings of different phrases despite them both speaking English (for example, what floor is the actual first floor). It was cool to get to know Rhys and see that maybe he had feelings developing for Luna too before we understood his cousin’s warning for Luna to keep away from him in terms of a relationship. And speaking of Ruby, she was a lot of fun to read about and her friendship with Hamish and her cousin Rhys. I loved all of their interactions with each other and the community. I also loved that Rhys’s pub was such a staple for the town to come and do just about anything together. Some of my favorite scenes/moments of this story included: a murder mystery book club debate, Cotswolds’ rivalry with Linscombe (and the things they both did in retaliation for a few things that happened in the story), whenever Rhys gave Luna an odd look over something she said or did, Luna’s love for Dr. Pepper, meeting Maggie (and the texts to Rhys about her), finding and chopping down a Christmas tree, ice skating, decorating the pub for Christmas, and the cake incident.

Summary:

When Luna receives an invite to her estranged ex’s wedding not even a year after they broke up from their long-time relationship and discovers that the bride wants her in the wedding party, Luna does what she does best in tough situations: she runs away from her problems. In this case, all the way to the Cotswolds in England and she plans on staying there past Christmas due to the wedding date being close by to then. Sure, it means she won’t be able to have Christmas with her family this year, but her sanity will be safe.

At least, that’s what Luna thinks before getting into the Cotswolds. But not everything goes according to plan…

First, there is so much snow and the roads are incredibly narrow which leads to one disaster. Another problem comes in the form of her rental not looking like the ad suggested. The third and possibly most dangerous problem comes in the form of Luna’s English landlord. Rhys is a guy straight from her fantasies and though he seems a little rough around the edges, he is dangerous to her already broken heart. Neither of them are looking for a relationship, especially with someone who won’t be living anywhere nearby, but Luna is finding herself falling for him despite all that.

When it comes time to leave, will Luna once again have her heart shattered?
