A Stuff Your Kindle Winner!
I got this first book in the Blakey Manor series for free during Stuff Your Kindle day and it’s done its job because I will be reading the rest’
Wren was the perfect Scottish hero and Briar was strong and funny and so likeable as a heroine. The plot vs romance was so well balanced and I find myself desperate to find out what happens to the rest of the family!

I loved the wild story of Briar & Wren. The contrast in social standing makes for a more individual story with some surprising twists. The connection between them was apparent from the beginning, and I think Briar’s stubborn, tenacious spirit will serve her well as a Scotswoman. She already has so much of the strong Scottish spirit. Wren is a strong, grizzly of a man in all the best ways but Briar sees through his scowls to the truth of the man underneath. Edgewood writes a wonderful cast of side characters that dig into your soul, you either love them or hate them, and in some surprising cases both! My heart broke, was mended and indeed soared. A wonderful story of an unlikely journey and a new life created. I can’t wait to read more of the Blakely Manor series, the differences between these two families and indeed their surprising commonalities make for a truly unique story in the Historical romance genre.

Briar takes Wren with her for protection when she is going to see the young woman that her neighbor knocked up and can't be bothered to care anything about when they are kidnapped along with said annoying neighbor Percy. They find out that the reason for the kidnapping is that Wren is the new Laird of Renfrew castle and he's being brought home because his cousin is a terrible person and did originally send the kidnappers to kill Wren. The main problem now is that Briar has been alone for several days with a large group of men, who took her as well because they thought she was Wren's wife, so she must decide between the 2 men which to marry to save her reputation even though she has no desire to marry yet.
This was an entertaining story without the dreaded third act break up which is a refreshing change from the norm. Wren, Briar and Percy could all have used a bit more depth but overall they were well done and I liked Percy's redemption arc.
TW: rape and abuse not on page
I received this ARC through NetGalley and WOLF Publishing

This was a great historical romance. The story was so entertaining and it had so many interesting twists. Briar and Wren had amazing chemistry from the very beginning and I was completely mesmerized by the story.

This was a new-to-me author I found via stuff your ereader day and this book was a real treat. Almost as much plot as a Lynsay Sands but not quite as bananas, class difference, marriage of convenience, kidnapped and taken to Scotland. It hit all of the Scotty RoNo notes. Super cute. Will def read the next book!
Graphic: Blood, Kidnapping, Murder, and Violence
Moderate: Domestic abuse, Infertility, and Pregnancy

I would have given more stars if it wasn’t for the tragic end of a character I really liked
