the fact this was inspired by a true story is insane, it made it sm more terrifying and suspenseful. it's so inspiring, to be trapped in a horrible nightmare to competing in the olympics 2 years later !!

justice for wes tho💔💔

This book was definitely interesting… I almost dnfed it because my nieces name is mylie and I was like I don’t know if I can listen to this. But I did enjoy it I definitely didn’t think it would go as it did but I’m glad it did. This was definitely a rollercoaster.

I loved this book. Couldn’t put it down. This book was loosely based off of a real life event. I had no idea until the end. The strong resilience Miley had is what saved her. She was a fighter and that’s what kept her going. I did not see the kidnapping coming. It was a sure fight for her until the end. I got to the point I thought that it was going to be a long shot for her to survive but the missing chicken gave her the perfect excuse. She’s a kickass character and I love that about her.
*I would recommend this book *

So gruesome - didn’t want to continue in the beginning but later on the suspense was so good. Few unrealistic parts but overall crazy story - at the end learned it was inspired a real story even wilder..

This was a five star read for me, until the end. It's almost like she hit a page limit and was like, ok, time for the neat little bow to wrap it all up. It just seemed like an unceremonious ending to me. I did enjoy the story throughout though. The author had me on edge waiting to know what would happen.

This was a rough listen. Not because of the narrator or the book being bad, but because it was so damned harrowing. I listened to this while I was working, and my heart was racing through much of it.
I love to go hiking, and this definitely changed the way I approach my hikes. I would always let someone know roughly where I was going, but now I give detailed trail names, mileage, and timelines. I text photos of where I entered the trailheads and when I have returned. If there are cars in the lot, I notate license plates and try to park away from other vehicles. I should have been doing this all along as a solo female hiker, but I admit to being lax in my diligence.
Naturally, this is fiction, and parts are exaggerated to prove a point. And feels like it was written around the time of the 'man or the bear' debate, but damn it made me rethink how I approach the wilderness. Solid read with good narrators.
Proceed with caution, though, it could be potentially triggering.
