Gray After Dark

One of the better thrillers I’ve read in a long time!! Truly reflects the sentiment that seeing a bear in the woods is better than seeing a man.

Gray After Dark follows the story of Miley, an Olympian and biathlete spending her summer working at a resort in the Frank Church Wilderness of Idaho.

On one of her runs, she’s met with a danger far greater than a bear— a father and son doomsday prepper duo.

I was particularly intrigued by the dialogue the author included in the novel. It genuinely disturbed me at times, and felt truly authentic to how I imagine a situation like this would play out. This was a nice, fast-paced thriller written in excellent dialogue and detail. Really aligned with my love for wilderness / survival thrillers!

Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

This one started out a bit slow for me, but it had me on the edge of my seat at the end. I would have liked more character depth from the two main characters, Miley and Brent. I feel like I was much more interested in Mary and Wes' characters than theirs. Overall it was a good, easy read.

I listened to this book on audio and the narrator was fantastic! The story kept me entertained and slightly creeped out

This book was something else. We’re suppose to buy into the rescue team just giving up when bloody clothes are found. Just give up totally. Then two men search for weeks. With no one looking for them. Are you kidding me? A total waste of my time. Should have DNFd.

I did not realize this would be a book heavy with sexual violence and I just didn't want that.
