Whew. This was a very tough read. Physical violence, and sexual violence, as well as kidnapping. Very tough read. I’m thankful it came with triggered warnings at the beginning of the book.

If you are anything like me, then you probably didn’t know that this book is inspired by a true story before you picked it up to read.
Horrific to imagine, right? Not only the fictional story but the reality that someone survived the atrocities that the FMC did in this book in real life.
I appreciated that the author Noelle West Ihli didn’t focus on unnecessary details regarding the villains in this story. She gave the reader enough facts and context about each to portray them as the vile human beings they were. Nothing more, nothing less. She focused on the strength and resilience that the FMC character possessed within herself and those who loved her enough to not give up on her.
It was a beautifully written story with so many touching moments that inspire courage and remind us all that perseverance and grit can make all of the difference even when hope seems futile.
Definitely a memorable read for me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ .75
