Quite a good read. I really like the foursome friendship thing. It's a big difference from the usual three is a crowd friendship dynamic. I don't like girls with bad attitudes, almost rude sometimes, like Remy was, but she improves at the end, and I do like that Sarah Dessen's characters are similar yet distinctly different from each other.
Although some people have complained about how Dessen's books seem to be formulaic, I don't agree with that. Sure, there's the whole girl meets boy, they fall in love, blah blah blah, but that's pretty much almost everybody's real life story, and yet, each one is distinctly different.
We all have had, or want to have, similar love stories for ourselves. That doesn't make our stories the same. My parents' love story is very different from mine with my partner, and my brother with his, and my friends with theirs, etc.
Sarah Dessen actually manages to make each one of the main characters in her books different yet relatable. There are some characters I like more, of course, and some I like less, but they are all relatable.
I've been reading all her books that I can get my hands on, and at this rate, she'll need to publish a new book every month to catch up with how fast I'm reading her stuff! I'm dreading the day I finish reading all her books and have to wait impatiently for her to write new books.

I liked that Remy's a hard ass. I would have liked more girl times. Dexter...I remain undecided. my mind tells me know but my fangirl feels tell me yes
I was not a big fan of this book because I really just did not like Remy at all. there was just something about her that I just did not like.
al fin un libro que me gustó lpm
va a ser una de mis mayores sorpresas del año la verdad, y ahora puedo confirmar que quiero seguir leyendo a sarah

This Lullaby is so nostalgic for me.
I love Remy and Dexter’s grump x sunshine vibe.
My favorite thing about This Lullaby is that it truly feels like a summer montage. We get little snippets of Remy and Dexter’s relationship, the band members banter, Remy and her friend group hanging out in their last summer together.
I love the quirkiness of it. I love the imagery of the yellow house and the tangerines, the silly photographs, the lizards, the beaded curtain and typewriter. The Spot. Dexter’s untied shoelaces. Fountain drinks.
There is so much teen drinking and smoking in this book. Like… as a tween, I’m sure I read it and thought, “yeah, that’s how all teenagers are. They party, drink and smoke.” I know this book was written in the early 2000s and I know the sad truth is that for many teenagers drinking and smoking is how you have a good time, even now. I just hate the casualness of it. The characters are always drinking or buying beer. It’s possible to spend your teen years sober, I promise.
This book also doesn’t have any diversity in it, and has a lot of casual fatphobia. Still, I have a soft spot for This Lullaby.
