I loved the story you went along following Remy and learning that possibly her view on love and life in general wasn't always set in stone nor right all along. I didn't find the idea unique but I was interested in the characters and adored the lessons the story taught.
Characters - I had a mild likeness towards the characters, I didn't necessarily hate them but I just personally didn't massively relate to any of them. I did understand them though, and found some understanding with Remy's mistrust of love and cynicism. This was massively aided by the fact I thought they were fleshed out so well and seemed so real.
I found the writing itself flowed pretty well but I did every so often find a few spelling or grammar mistakes which prevented me from being fully engrossed in the story. It was quite a simple plot to follow in a style that was simple and straightforward that made it easy and enjoyable to read, and if so more relatable.
I found the pacing was a bit all over the place at some stages as I did find it quite slow until the end, but I found that related to the fact Remy was scared of throwing herself into love and therefore took it slow herself.
I found the family relationship was actually pretty believable and somewhat relatable. I celebrated when the family celebrated and was upset when the family was upset. I must admit though I did like Dexter but he hasn't been my favourite Dessen love interest and therefore, I personally found it wasn't a massive swoon-worthy book.
I didn't find it massively addicting until the end, purely because that was when the pace picked up and I finally felt engrossed and fully connected to all the characters.

Lebih suka buku ini dibanding Just Listen. :)
#cieeeeeeh
"Kau melakukannya!" serunya, tertawa keras-keras. Kau membelikanku beberapa garpu, dan pisau, dan sendok. Karena--"
"Tidak," kataku lantang.
"--kau mencintaiku!"
3. Kamu menyukai musik. Oke, novel ini memang tidak seperti If I Stay yang memiliki Adam dan Mia sebagai musisi. Tapi Dexter juga seorang vokalis band. Mungkin alasan kenapa Sarah Dessen membuat Dexter sebagai seorang musisi agar Remy bisa mengingat Ayahnya. :)
4. Kamu menyukai cerita cinta.
Like You (never mind I'll find someone like you~) .
Tapi saran saya cuma satu: typo-nya tolong diminimalisir. :p
This lullaby is only a few words
A simple run of chords
Quiet here in this spare room
But you can hear it, hear it
Wherever you may go
Even if I let you down
This lullaby plays on...

A quick easy read. Fairly predictable, but I'm not opposed to that when I sit down with a teen romance.
I didn't really like this one. I'm torn between 2 and 3 stars. I just couldn't like Remy or her group of friends. Once again, my dislike of the book may be partly swayed by the voice of the narrator since I listened to the audio version... Although, I disliked Dexter's "voice" the most, and he was probably one of the only characters I could stand.
I don't know. Just wasn't a story I connected with. Bummer because it came recommended.

I read Dessen's book Keeping the Moon this past summer and liked it a lot, so I was looking forward to checking out another one of her books. This one, however, didn't really do it for me. I still love Dessen's writing style and her un-preachy attitude towards teens drinking and having sex. I was even OK with Remy's crabbiness toward guys, since it's grounded in her mother's string of failed marriages and general flightiness. But I just didn't believe anything about Dexter, and worse, I didn't like him. He shows his feelings for Remy by being creepy, stalker-y, and immature. Literally the only thing that makes his actions OK is that he somehow "just knows" he and Remy are going to end up together. She tells him "no" over and over and he just ignores her. I hate to be the one taking the "what are we teaching our children??" tack, but I just cannot get behind a book whose message is "you'll know when you find THE ONE because he won't take no for an answer."
I also found the whole musician dad subplot troubling. I get that allowing Dexter to sing her dad's song represents Remy finally yielding the most private part of herself to Dexter, but the emotional impact that that change was supposed to have never really resonated with me.
I do like stories like this, where a crabby jaded girl learns to take risks and let herself love again. But I really wish Dessen had found a way for Dexter to break down Remy's defenses that was a little more respectful of her boundaries.

“Everything, in the end, comes down to timing. One second, one minute, one hour could make all the difference.”Probably my least favorite out of Dessen's books, the characters were not quite as endearing or interesting to me this time. She especially missed the mark with the love interest, I didn't like Dexter at all. This is most likely why it took me so long to finish it. Nonetheless, it had her usual enjoyable writing style so I can't bring myself to give it a lower rating.
Compared to Sarah Dessen's other works, this one didn't really compare. I found it very slow, and dull. But I enjoyed it at times.
This book was so good. I really enjoyed it. Very emotional and it did make me miss my dad. Very well told story as many of her books are.
Cute and quick, but didn't necessarily grip me. Still a good book to read.
This one was my second favourite Sarah Dessen book so far. I really really enjoyed this particular story and all of its characters. Remy is a more complex protagonist than most of the other protagonists Dessen has written; she has multiple inner issues that she has to work out which wasn't completely centred on the love story. I also loved all of the quirky and loveable characters there were, and how the story didn't seem as formulaic as her other ones. I also felt that this one was more realistic, and the dialogue more realistic than her other books. This story was really quirky and I laughed out loud at times, especially at Dexter. Dexter is not Dessen's typical romantic interest, which I enjoyed a lot. He wasn't the tall, tan, buff but not too buff gorgeous type that we see so very often; Dexter had lots of odd quirks and mannerism that made him extremely interesting. I wished that I could have gotten a little more in depth with Remy's issue with "This lullaby", because I feel like it wasn't part of the story enough. Overall I really enjoyed it and I would recommend it to fans of contemporary.
