A very interesting slow burn sort of book that ends in some great stuff ;)

A fast paced mystery in the Australian outback. You really get a sense of the challenges and community feeling from the town and the twist was good at the end!

Mám moc ráda, jak si autorka dokáže vyhrát s prostředím a celkovou atmosférou. To, jak dokáže vykreslit osamělost a odříznutost míst a komunity. Nejinak je tomu i v tomto případě. Tajemný náhrobní kámen, farma v odlehlé části australské buše, všeobjímající horko a žár.

Couldn’t put this book down! The story is captivating and gripping.

“Sometimes things turn out for the best. And when you end up in the right place, it's not always helpful to go digging up the road that got you there.”

Reasons to Read:
If you like unusual mystery novels
If you love reading novels set in different terrains
If you like staying up the entire night because you just can’t put this down

In a novel of 362 pages, Jane Harper has written a gem covered in layers of fine red dust, each layer leaving you more greedy than the last. For me, The Lost Man at its heart was a book about women, though it was written from the point of view of a man.

A story of three brothers, living in the outback who went through a tough childhood. Cameron, the golden child, Nathan, the loner living in isolation and Bub, the child of the family.
When Cameron is found dead under not-so-suspicious but mysterious circumstances, our protagonist Nathan comes to live with the family. As family secrets, hidden pasts come to light, nearly everyone looks guilty.

Reading books about places i've never been to and don’t know much about is one of my favourite things to do. Learning about them from the perspective of a character who has lived there for a lifetime, reveals nuances that tour guides just won’t tell you.
Really feeling the wanderlust right about now.

Ru Recommends: 4/5

Fun Fact: The tiny town of Birdsville, on the edge of the Simpson Desert, known for hitting the highest-ever temperature in Queensland, (49.5 degrees Celsius) served as inspiration for the novel.
