LET ME START BY SAYING THIS HAS NON-CON WHICH IS WHY I DIDN’T LIKE IT & I FEEL LIKE IT IS NOT STATED ANYWHERE AND NOT INCLUDED IN TRIGGER WARNINGS!!!!!!!!!!
I wanted to rate this 5⭐️ so badly because I freaking love Alexis, Nyx, & fluffy Jr. but the whole
Kharon & Augustus punishment at the end grosses me out and they’re honestly so creepy and disgusting. I thought at the beginning it was gonna be enemies to lovers with one or both and then they just went on to be the absolute worst and I’m so uncomfortable I ever thought she should have them as love interests. Makes me nervous because I don’t want them to end up together in future books & im honestly not sure what is going on with Patro & Achilles?????? I’m more into the nice sweet innocent love interests so I’m rooting for Drex or someone to come in the second book that is better lmao but that is absolutely not happening so I had to lower my rating for now :/
Alexis is seriously one of my fav main characters ever though I really hate that the ending was what it was 😭

The main character is one of the best I’ve read for a fantasy novel. Her inner monologue is entertaining and she’s easy to love.

It’s the love interests that really suck and are basically threatening to assault her for most of the novel.

*POTENTIA SPOILERS* Up until the end it feels like the story actually wants them to get together before setting up a revenge plot for the next novel that saves this book from being a 2 or 3 rather than 4. Truly, an ending that promises retribution re-contextualizes a lot of this novel that would feel gross rather than properly angering.

If you want the rapists to get the girl, I guess you could call this the villain gets the girl. That ending was terrible, which is a real shame because the protagonist was such a likable character. Disappointed. The author could've done better.

is the main relationship in this book a lil toxic? yes. did i enjoy this book? omg absolutely. it’s a dark romantasy that deals with a lot of heavy topics. you should definitely read the trigger warnings before reading this book.

The book had interesting dry and dark humor. Alexis is kinda whiny and dramatic. The story itself was not really a pageturner, but interesting enough to keep coming back to.

As a note, I listened to the audiobook. The VAs were what made me laugh more than the words. I probably wouldn't have finished the book if I was actually reading it. Yet, the VAs made it so enjoyable that I am looking forward to the next one in the series.

Blood of Hercules is all world-building and rising action. The writing is very Assistant to the Villain except much less light and fluffy. This is darkly hilarious, but strong emphasis on the dark. Alexis Hert grows up homeless and in a nightmare foster situation. She hates to be touched, and she struggles with verbal communication. She spends the majority of the book being physically and psychologically tortured into her villain era. The romance in this is dark and warped. I mentioned this was funny, and I know you aren't seeing it. Give the audiobook a try though if you're interested, and the narrator's perfect portrayal might make it clearer.
I read the first 70% via audiobook and then switched to an ebook because I read much faster that way and was devouring it. Interested in what the next book in this series has going on.

Vibes:
Who did this to you?
Reverse Harem
Touch her and die (from everyone, especially her)
Incest-adjacent (idk if that's a thing, but the chthonics are basically only a handful of immortals with lots of crossover so kinda weird)
Entrapment

People have mentioned a very shady SA scene at the end. Consent is questionable enough throughout that it should be known before you read too.

this is so ungodly bad. the characters have no depth, the plot is held together by strings (and boy they are fraying), and the writing is bad.

If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would. Absolutely amazing and intense, could not put it down!

Definitely dark and violent, not much romance but what it has is exceptional.

It's like hunger games/academy vibes but make it Greek mythology and raise the stakes and make it a little more adult. Yet there is a surprising amount of humor (or maybe I'm just twisted)

The big plot twist was a bit predictable and the FMC was totally oblivious to it even when I felt it should have been obvious to her, but that is somewhat understandable based on other events in the book.

No idea how I'm going to wait for the next book, I'm dying for more already!
