This book was a lot of fun! Fun and fluffy without being vapid.

3.75 stars.
I really enjoyed the writing style and the character development. Overall, it was a good read.

Intriguing mystery. I'm always a fan of this writing style. Something about it just makes it more gripping. Loved Bernadette. But I couldn't escape the feeling that there was something missing from this story-line. Not sure what, but it left me wanting more. Perhaps there was just too much buildup and I didn't feel the ending satisfied the enthusiasm I prepared for it. Oh well, still enjoyed it!

This book made me really hate my hometown. But the chase part of the book was pretty good. I have a different ending in my head for the book, I give that ending four stars. Am willing to discuss with author my different ending : )

I read a bunch of glowing reviews on this one and am thinking that I just didn't get it. Bernadette Fox is an agoraphobic architect. Her husband, Elgie, is a Microsoft executive and their daughter Bee, a student at a not quite top tier private school. The milieu - TED talks, Macarthur Grants is very 1%, but Bernadette is a mess. The book is a satire, but my lack of intimacy any of the worlds that novel inhabits left me feel like I was out of the joke. Some parts of the book amused me greatly - the personal assistant from India, Manjula, who turned out to be not quite as advertised was funny. The modern take on the epistolary novel worked and the ending is satisfying but the overall the book book left me cold.
