Did anyone else sort of loathe all the characters in this book except Bee? I had a hard time connecting to the story because of it...
Third time’s a charm! I enjoyed this story and the way it’s written. Took a minute to get into reading excerpts of other peoples correspondences and wait for them to blend together into a plot but then it became very important and fun to read. One of the characters built a “20 mile house” (all materials sourced within 20 miles of the property) which really landed with me since I hope to have a home where I build everything in it and exist in an eco friendly way. :)
I wanted to like this book more. I think there was just too much hype around it. I did enjoy reading the book and it was one that was hard to put down. I think as a whole, I felt like it missed something. I would have liked to see more closure on the ending.

Finishing a book is both my favourite thing to do and also my most hated. "Where'd You Go Bernadette?" by Maria Semple was a book that I longed to find out what happened in but I loathed to finish.
Semple has created a new breed of novel, telling her story through a combination of narration, email exchanges and articles. It makes a humourous and imaginative read

3,5 stars. The writing style easily engrossed me but overall, I don't think this book did enough for me to deserve a 4 star rating.
