I really adored Where'd You Go, Bernadette. It was laugh out loud funny, creatively written, and really heartwarming.

'Where'd you go, Bernadette' is a complicated story- it's told non-linearly, mostly via letters, faxes, and emails. The story, unlike the blurb, is less about the daughter Bee, and more about discovering who her mother Bernadette is, where she went, and why she went there... as well as the context of the suburbs. We are Bee, in most cases, aside from her occasional contextual interlude. the book dragged after the first twist.

I listened to list as an audio book and it was fantastic. I am so glad I chose to read this one with my ears. I also liked the way it ended which is sometimes hard for me to do.

This was a fun, quick read and a lovely escape from real life. I loved how the story unfolded through the emails and such. Audrey Griffin is my favorite character.
Reading this book at this exact moment hit a little close to home (dealing with a mental health crisis of a dear family member). All of Bernadette’s manic anxiety made me desperately wish she would ALLOW HERSELF TO BE HELPED! By mental health professionals! In the end I feel her symptoms were treated as “cute personality quirks” when they maybe shouldn’t have been? On the other hand I am a proponent of doing what you can to help yourself, which Bernadette does do. All said and done, Bernadette is a fictional person and this story is satire (an excellent one), so the whole mental health thing is irrelevant here and I’m not going to waste time worrying about it.

Zalig boek met een apart gevoel voor humor.

This was a fun and light read that mostly focused on random adult drama. I loved the characters and part of the setting takes place somewhere I really want to go, Port Lockroy, Antarctica to see the penguins.
