This book made me physically ill. Like I’m not even saying that I thought I might throw up. There is a scene in this book that is absolutely haunting and imo completely unnecessary I read the scene this morning and cannot stop thinking about it and feelings sick its actually harrowing.

okay wow, what a stunning book! Another one that is absolutely worth the hype, in my opinion. this is a tale about friendship, love, addiction, being young and lost or  not so young and still on quite the rocky road.

the prose is stunning and also so witty , i genuinely loved the sense of humor which is quite rare for me to truly come across.

what fascinated me the most though: the author genuinely has a GIFT for writing characters, each and every single one of them was incredibly nuanced, unique and so very *human*. you feel like you have or could have maybe met them along your own way navigating your 20s, they are all in super different stages and living situations, so it is a very diverse set of people too, although without having this feeling forced or unnatural in any way !
the only thing to criticize to me is what unfortunately also stems from having quite the large set of wonderful & loveable characters, is that i felt i saw too little of some of them, i get that the focus was on frank & cleo but i easily could've read on about all of them haha. also
quentin's and anders's ending did not feel full or satisfying at all ...

still, the book is probably a new favorite now!

How many times can a book try to shock you by mentioning masturbation? This book falls into the messy woman trope - you've read one, you've read them all.

I genuinely can’t tell if I enjoyed this book, but I’m leaning towards no. It randomly had really beautiful prose at times, but the rest of the time I was gritting my teeth and forcing myself to finish it. It’s almost like it was written like a movie. Too fast. Too much jumping through time. This book has almost no plot, so it should be character driven, but I felt like most of the characters were so….hollow. When you finally learned something about a character, or there was a breakthrough, the chapter would end, two months would pass, and suddenly you’re reading from someone else’s point of view.

I wish this book gave us more of Zoe. She was a funny, insufferable, not entirely likable character.

I hated the way Cleo was described throughout this book. We GET IT. She’s young! Blonde! Small! English! Angelic! Intense! If I have to read one more sentence about how innocent and cherubic and childlike she looks I’ll scream.

I liked Eleanor alot. She was clever and raw. When the book was in Eleanor’s point of view I actually enjoyed the prose.

In summation, good for them I guess.
