I can't personally relate to either of the narrators, and it just felt so depressing with very little happening to make it interesting. DNF around 35% of the way through

Promising premise but the execution left me unimpressed. Part of the disappointment was probably because it is marketed as psychological thriller but, really, this felt like reading diaries of two miserable women with their own issues. No twist, no surprises. Even the supposedly shocking ending was predictable and anti climatic.
The dual narrative worked well for me. Harriet has a solid backstory that gave me enough details to understand her mental state. Lexie, however, was pathetic. While I think fertility issues is an interesting topic to explore, it's hard to sympathize with Lexie because her character is so dislikable, annoying and miserable.
Overall, and okay book. 2.5 stars.
Wouldn't recommend it to anyone, though.

This book is a scary dark thriller about the secrets and horrors that live behind closed doors. How many of us really know our neighbours. We spend days, months and years living next door to these people hearing their lives through the wall and wondering if their life is better than ours. What happens when that curiosity turns into an obsession. Maybe the person you might nod at In the hall is not quite 100% who they seem and why are odd things happening around you. Are you loosing your mind or is something more sinister to blame?

Le premesse pazzesche, ma un finale talmente scontato che mi ha annoiato terribilmente. Che peccato.

Lexi and Harriet, living next door and each envying the life the other is leading. Not having met they both make assumptions about the others lives based on overheard scraps and social media. Envying the life their neighbour is imagined to be living.
Told from alternate view points it soon becomes clear that things are not going to end well. It is a tense, well written psychological thriller and I finished it within 24 hours.
I wonder who will play the main characters since it would lend itself well to being made into a film in the same sort of genre as ‘Gone Girl.’
