A cute story about Zoe, who jilted at the alter on her wedding day, decides to take a job in America as a nanny. When the placement gets switched to work for the stunningly handsome but terribly rude single dad Ryan, she wonders if she has done the right thing. Luckily her two small charges possess a bit more charm than their father. Over time Zoe and Ryan start to get on better and things look to be taking a turn towards romance but then Zoe's ex gets in touch and she has a change of heart. Quite a predictable book but sweet in its own right.

A cute enough chick-lit about a girl who was jilted at the alter before the start of the novel, and flees the UK to escape it all, ending up as a live-in nanny for an American family.

Zoe is of course nursing a broken heart, but it doesn't take long for her to notice her employer, a surly single dad, is attractive.

The book proceeds pretty much as you'd expect from there, with some laughs and some embarrassing moments for our leading lady. My main problem with the book was that I struggled to root for the central romance, given she was so badly mistreated. I kept waiting for "something more" from the leading man without quite knowing what that should be.

It was a thoroughly decent read, but it wasn't my favourite by this author.

This was the first book I have read by Jane Costello so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was really surprised and really enjoyed it.

The Nearly-Weds is a funny, witty and heart-warming story about Zoe. After being stood up by her fiancé Jason at their own wedding, piling on weight and now she has become so fed up with the sympathy Zoe decides to make new life for herself working for the gorgeous Ryan Miller a singe father in New York. She becomes a nanny for his two children Ruby and Samuel who it is safe to say rule the roost. As they seem to have run rings around countless nannies before her Zoe has her work cut out but the hardest task is dealing with Ryan. He never sees his children, works every hour god sends, is incredibly messy and is permanently grumpy.

I enjoy the typical 'Chick Lit' book and had always looked at a few of Jane Costello's books but never picked one up. I'm glad I did. As I got a few chapters in I really began to enjoy the book and as time ran away with me and before I knew it I was already a third of the way through the book and didn't want to put it down.

One thing I really like in a book is a strong female character and although I found Zoe a very real and likable character, straight away you begin to feel a little sorry for and her weaknesses and flaws show, but that's what makes her a normal person and people can relate to what she is going through. She makes it clear at first that she still loves Jason but as time passes the only person she can think about is Ryan even though he treats her terribly. He comes across as a terrible parent, and awful person and incredible angry and annoyed, but as the story goes on you begin to realise that similarly to Zoe, Ryan is hurting to. He is grieving the death of his ex-wife.

The relationship between Zoe and Ryan starts off rocky and at first they are two polar opposites, it would be difficult to find two more different people but as they begin to get to know each other they change each others lives. As the story is told from Zoe's point of view you experience the emotions and feelings she goes through, the friendships that she makes in Ryan as well as Trudie, Amber and Felicity who make up her small friendship group and support her and all provide a shoulder for each other to cry on. One of the most important feelings that are portrayed to the reader is the caring nature Zoe shows towards Ruby and Samuel and in the end Ryan.

Each character has their own background and although Costello doesn't go into detail about most of then every each one has a part to play in making the story work. The only character I didn't like was Trudie's Boyfriend. He came across as selfish and got on my nerves as he didn't really fit in the story.

There were many points in the book where I found my self laughing out loud, being so angry with Ryan, and others where I just couldn't fight back the tears and because the book covers so many emotions for a reader this is what made is difficult to put down and made me want to carry on reading.

My only issue was for me the ending was far to predictable maybe because I've read a lot of chick lit books but I could guess what was going to happen straight away it didn't spoil the book for me but was an anti-climax and wasn't really and different from other chick lit books.

Overall I really enjoyed the book and would 100% recommend the book to a friend, and will be giving some of Jane Costello's other books a read!
