As a dog mama and lifelong dog lover I adored these poems that reflect and honor the spirit of our canine friends. There were poems that made me think of my sweet Madeline that became my companion the summer before middle school began, and others made me think of my husband and I's baby, Mavis Jane. I love all animals, dogs especially. After reading all the positive reviews, I was really excited to read this one. I hate to say, I was disappointed. I love poetry, but this wasn't as compelling as I imagined it would be. It's not bad, it's just ok. It didn't evoke the feelings in me that I expected. Others have loved it, so I am in the minority here.
