Like a season of The Wire set in Japan.

It felt very slow and I was going through a bit of a reading rut at the time. Sometimes very technical and detailed (such as the economics of introducing a new beer into the market). Also no-one felt very likeable.

This is a very extensive and detailed, well-planned book about post-war Japan and white collar crime. It's not for everyone. If you like slow paced, insightful book, you might like this. Don't expect action scenes, you will get character's narration instead. I definitely will read the Volume 2.
