Quick, gripping, written in verse.

Loved this. Made me cry for my sister and cry for my mother and cry for myself. Beautifully executed. I’ve never read anything like it, 10 genres in 1.
dark reflective sad fast-paced

Started and finished this one in the bath as the water eventually got very cold. Nelson never disappoints. Cried, briefly, but for real, three times (too honest? Sry!). Already passing it to a friend. I love you, Maggie Nelson.

Im happy I read The Red Parts first. My brain isn’t wired for poetry and fragmented stories. Having read The Red Parts I was able to understand and appreciate Jane

What a delicate portrait of a violent crime. Like all of Nelson's work: weird, provocative, enthralling.

interesting blend of true crime, diary, & poetry whose themes of girlhood and loss of innocence stand out to me most
