I’m too old for this type of college romance… I could not care about their problems, felt it was immature and was not invested in their relationship at all. Also, this is just way too long.
it was cute! there was a lot more with the ex boyfriend then i thought there was gonna be, some borderline heavy content (ex: stalking, harassment, etc) and surprise sex tape scandal. aside from that, the writing was pretty good. it's uncommon to see horrible best friends in romance novels, but this one had it. I do feel like in the middle there was a good 100-150 pages that had literally no purpose, just pure fluff. the main characters were together, the housing was figured out, everything was at peace. then the third act catastrophe hit, but like 200 pages after? with less than 100 pages left? i just think the pacing was a bit off.

the story was compelling in terms of romance and the characters were lovable. however, within the second half it felt a bit rushed in terms of sophies pregnancy and the sex tape .
baileys lack of communication was a little annoying at times but it was understandable considering luke.
all in all it was solid and i do really love james and carter.

I want to say this is rivals to lovers, but Chase had no clue they were even rivals and Bailey isn’t even on the hockey team, she’s just a fan who made them rivals in her head. At rival colleges, when it comes to their hockey teams, I guess the rivals to lovers trope still works. Either way once Bailey’s life starts falling down around her, starting with her hockey captain boyfriend dumping her, Chase ends up saving her in a real way. First just as a friend, but slowly that turns into more as he continues to show up for her. This is a cute story and I liked it, but it’s way longer than I thought it needed to be at over 500 pages. Still a good hockey romance though.
