4.5⭐️ and this was a perfect follow up after Noire Moon! Make sure you read this novella first! We get more of Poe and our delicious 3 strangers that she previously met and I straight devoured this book.
There is so much more to all 3 of these men than meets the eye and I love them all for different reasons. Sweet, sweet Angel - I just wanted to wrap him up in the biggest hug. He has so many emotions and big feelings and when he finally opens up, I couldn't help but love him more. And then we have Grey, who always seems to anticipate what the others need and I also love the 'butcher' side of him. He has no hesitations about hurting those who have harmed the people he loves and I'm here for that. And Hawke, or should I say Sir? He also has his demons, but his dominant side and his filthy mouth - HOLY SMOKES.
What I also loved about this book is that in addition to the amazing spice, we also get a good plot for the story to follow! We learn more about the houses and how things run and this also kept me wanting to know more.

Honestly, I'm glad Poe didn't have to choose because each of these guys just had something amazing about them. Angel's texts 😭 he was so sweet.

Ok Elliott you need to listen to us very carefully: respectfully to Angel and Grey but we the people need more Hawke 🥵 he is the sole cause of the absolute rabid, feral animal I turned into reading Macabre Gods.
This read I feel like was darker than Vengeful Gods 🤔 but also more balanced with the spice. Like the ratio just hit the golden spot for me!
Side note: yes, you should read Noire Moon before this. I had a brain fart and forgot about the prequel novella. Once I remembered (I think I was only 100-ish pages in) I doubled back and knocked that over pretty quick. I’m so glad I did too! It really is vital to getting an understanding of the things happening in MG 👏

This is a complex story and reading Noire Moon is a must. They pair very well together. This is also a dark romance so please check the trigger warnings. Your ment health matters 🫶🏻.

First and foremost, please check content warnings. I went in knowing what was included and as I read on, decided I didn't like reading about a particular thing. Or rather the mention of it. Spice was great. My rating is because when it came down to it, this was not for me.
It also really dragged on for me. I felt like I spent an eternity reading this, and I know it was partially cause I wasn't enjoying what I was reading. I read the prologue novella and was like yeah okay, I can read this. But this was the novella to the extreme and I'm not afraid to say it was too much for me.

There were a few moments that I feared for Poe’s life and sanity, where I worked my lower lip into a mess with my teeth.
Angel had me hooked from the get-go, all silent, broody and obsessed. Grey’s playfulness and willingness to dive head first so easily was like a drug.
And Hawke, well, I think I had a love-hate relationship with him, but of course he won me over like the rest of Poe’s men.
