Macabre Gods is book two in the Port Macabre series, written by the amazing Elliott Rose. I recommend reading the Noire Moon novella first because it gives the book some backstory. This book is a contemporary MMFM why choose/reverse harem dark revenge romance. This can be read as a standalone.

After Vengeful Gods, I was excited to return to this world. This time, we focused on Poe, Angel, Hawke, and Grey. I loooooved Poe! She is such a snarky and strong FMC. Even though she is thrust into a world of trafficking and secret societies, she keeps her wits about her and holds her own.

Our three MMCs are delicious, and I would love to be the meat in their sandwich. Can we take a moment to really appreciate the mouth on Grey?! His dirty talk made my knees weak. I just fell in love with our silent Angel. Hawke, damn. I love a super spicy dom/sub dynamic.

Elliott knows how to do spicy! The visuals I saw while reading made me blush. The build-up and tension were exquisite. I loved the chemistry Poe had with each of them; each was special.

Thanks to Eilliott Rose for gifting me an eARC of Macabre Gods. I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I do not know what Elliott put into this book, but I absolutely inhaled it!!! It was f***ing insane!!!!

So we met Poe and her masked men in Noire Moon, and that was an amazing introduction, but Macabre Gods was incredible. We delve deeper into this world and these characters.

Poe, how amazing is she. What she went through was absolutely horrific, but to come out and even stronger individual was everything. She has a fierce spirit, yet she also shows softness to those closest to her.

We finally met our masked men. Hawke, Grey, and Angel. Hawke is the de facto leader amongst this group of men. He is very cold and calculating, but it all serves a purpose. Grey is unhinged, yet such a puppy in many ways (you'll understand what I mean), and they don't call him a certain name for no reason. Angel, I think he's my favourite. He is a gentle giant, especially where Poe is concerned and would do anything for those he loves. He is quiet and uses that to his advantage when he is tasked to do so.

The plot was 🤯🤯🤯
As mentioned previously, we delve deeper into this world, and it isn't pretty. Poe is thrust into this world against her will, essentially, and she is to be kept with Hawke, Grey, and Angel to oversee her "initiation." Lines and blurred when Poe and the guys fall hard and fast for each other. I love how Poe and the guys came together the way they did. It felt so natural for their individual relationships. I loved it!!! It gets really messy when truths are revealed. It took me on a bit of a roller coaster ride. One minute, I was like, yes, this is going to happen, and then next minute, it completely changed direction, and more secrets were brought to the surface.

I loved Vengeful Gods so much, but I think this may top it, maybe???

All I can say is read this series because it is so worth it.

Thank you so much to Elliott and your lovely team for the opportunity to read and be a part of your ARC team. I am forever grateful 🙏

ARC Review!

Firstly, thank you for the opportunity 🙏

Secondly, after finishing this book I feel like I also need the same aftercare Poe gets 😅

Chemistry between characters: 🖤🖤🖤🖤.5
I felt it throughout with Angel, it took some time with Grey and with Hawke initially I wasn’t entirely sold on it, but boy oh boy! Calliano ended up being a treat 🖤

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
So so so hot! But what really sent me over the edge was the unexpected dynamic between Grey and Hawke. I don’t know how much I can say but damn it was HHHHHHot.

Plot: 📝📝📝
I found that there was a huge build up for like 93% of the book, and then it all kinda got resolved in the final 7%. I found it interesting, but I almost feel like it got resolved too easily? Perhaps there’s going to be a sequel based on Emerald? I’d be keen on reading that!

Overall rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟

I have said it before and will probably say it again with any new book Elliot writes, because nobody writes spice like Elliott does OMG. To me she is the queen of spice! And man dud she deliver in this book.

Before starting the book I really thought Hawke would be my favorite, just like his brother Thorne can be my Daddy any day, and don’t get me wrong the man can still f*ck me five ways till Sunday but it was the other two  that did it for me. The way Grey cares for and takes care of Angel and Poe was everything along with his filthy mouth.
I couldn’t help compare the men to the vengeful men and just like I liked Ky immediately I also had a thing for bronze mask/Grey in Noire Moon. The humor and dominance that he simultaneously gives out is everything.

But Angel, no man comes close to this gentle giant 😍. I have no words for how much I love this man.

And of course Poe, our girl had a few hard cards dealt in life and in the beginning of the book my heart broke for her. How she grew as a character and stood up for herself and how her relationship evolved with her ‘captors’ was beautiful. She learned to accept who she was without shame and loved with her whole heart.
This book was a perfect mix of spice and plot, the story had me laughing, crying, swooning and squirming.

I savored this book instead of devouring it because I wanted it to last and knew it would be hard to say goodbye when it ended. But no matter how much I enjoyed it it is was still hard to say goodbye to these four. So please, please, please Elliott Rose tell me there will be a HEA part 2 novella so I can live of a few more crumbs of my babies.

And just like that, Elliott Rose has redefined spice. I mean, I thought I knew about real heat, but thankfully, my horizons have been broadened and I'll never be the same again. ❤️‍🔥

⚠️ PSA: I HIGHLY recommend reading the prequel novella "Noire Moon" before cracking into Macabre Gods. Please trust me: it's short, it’s out now, and vital for understanding where our girl Poe and her men got their start.

In Macabre Gods, spunky FMC Poe finds herself essentially claimed by three deliciously wicked members of the Anguis and thrown into life at Noire House where she's to be initiated into their secret society. What starts as captivity slowly transforms into something far more complicated as desires and orders unfold. If you ever lusted after Joshua Jackson in Skulls from the 2000’s, you get the vibes. 💀

Know this: all three of these brooding, dangerous yet exciting men could get it and I’d thank them for the experience. Whether you’re into silent giants that scream tenderness from the depths of their soul, buttoned up DADDIES that take charge and run the show or devilishly charming yet murderous brutes…there’s enough hotness for everyone. 🥵

THIS BOOK WAS CRIMINALLY SPICY. Every scene was memorable, delicious, and surprisingly moving. I even shed some tears, which feels a little weird to do while picturing this group of kinky troublemakers trying to out-orgasm each other.

Trope time!

Elliott Rose has a way of drawing you into a world and immersing you into the feelings of each character. I can’t fathom the resilience and perfect sunniness Posey “Poe” has and all out love she shows and shares. I believe it’s essential to read the Novella Noire Moon before reading this as it gives you background into these 4 wonderful characters. Poe, Angel, Grey & Hawk are perfect together. Angel has made it onto my book bf list. I enjoyed how the events in this book take place before Vengeful Gods because it gives a renewed appreciation for the story and how it progresses. Spice Level 5 on this one for me. Thank you Luna for the ARC opportunities you have for us bookworms.

This was another deliciously spicy and dark read from Elliott Rose. She definitely knows how to bring the spiciest spice and deliver a solid plot at the same time. Macabre Gods invoked so many strong emotions while navigating this dark secret society world.

Poe and her men were definitely intriguing and multifaceted. Hawke brought the intensity with his words and actions; Grey was a perfect mix of sweet and ruthless; and Angel managed to say so much without uttering a single word. He made me feel the most out of these three men. Each and every single one of them had such a tragic backstory filled with a darkness no one should experience. I was glad they all found each other.

If you enjoy dark why choose romances, I recommend this book! And as always, check the triggers warnings.

I would like to thank Elliott Rose and Luna Literary Management for the opportunity to read and review Macabre Gods.

I am fortunate enough to be an ARC reader and this is my honest review.

I’ve read each of the Port Macabre books and loved them. This Why Choose was deeper and darker than the others. (Check your triggers). But the pain is worth it to get to the HEA. These men and their tortured souls are everything you didn’t know you needed.

THIS is what I wanted from Vengeful Gods and wow, did it deliver! Masked men? Say less—I was gone. This book was a wild, dark, delicious ride from start to finish. It’s hot, it’s suspenseful, it’s dramatic, it’s emotional—every piece came together perfectly, and that twist? Absolute perfection.

Elliot Rose took everything that Vengeful Gods was missing and gave us a story with depth, intensity, and the kind of character dynamics that make a dark romance unforgettable. We got stalker obsession, kidnapping, found family, love, twisted darkness, and romance all blended together seamlessly. One moment, I was sick to my stomach from the tension, and the next, I was swooning. That balance is what makes this book so good.

Not to mention, we finally got the answers we were waiting for from Vengeful Gods! And trust me, it was worth it.

💀 What I Loved:
✔️ Masked, bloodstained captors (hello, new obsession)
✔️ Dark, dangerous, and deeply emotional character arcs
✔️ A revenge plot that actually made sense
✔️ The way desire and fear blurred into something intoxicating
✔️ A found family element that hit
✔️ The writing—so much better, tighter, and more gripping

This book took everything I love about dark romance and executed it flawlessly. It was twisted, it was beautiful, and it left me absolutely wrecked in the best way.

If you love morally gray men, obsessive desire, and tension so thick you can feel it, Macabre Gods is an absolute must read.

🔥 Would die for these masked men. No notes. 🔥

Thank you to Luna Literary and Elliot Rose for the eARC of this book.
