A great why choose! Wow! Spicy and a plot with plenty of drama and suspense. This story definitely keeps you engaged. I really enjoyed it.

I received an arc and this review is my own.

Whew chile, this was a ride indeed. I came straight from my first read of Noire Moon to prepare for it, but I actually wish I’d also read Vengeful Gods first to have a better understanding of some of the side characters’ back stories.

I loved this book. The steamy parts were STEAMing, the tense bits had my heart racing, and as the villains showed their hands I became increasingly bloodthirsty. Found myself asking people to just…erm…dismember folk even though that’s not my typical vibe at all lol. Just had a great time overall, honestly.

Granted, I do so love a dark romance. I always make this disclaimer because I am predisposed to love this kind of book (especially when there’s any MM action included). I received this book directly from the author as part of her ARC team and this is my honest review. 4.5 stars easily. Would have been 4.75 but the ending felt a bit rushed given how long the book is. Really solid follow up to the novella.

🖤ARC REVIEW♥️

Noire Moon left us with just a taste of how Macabre Gods was going to be (I would highly recommend reading it before starting Macabre Gods). Poe has a night with three masked men who give her all her dark pleasures and she has a night she will never forget. MG picks up shortly after that fateful night.

Some descriptive words:
Mystery, intrigue, kidnapping, initiation (fun time as well), DIRTY hot 👉🏻👌🏻, angst, heartwrenching, secrets revealed, bargains made. Just WOW! Elliott has done it again with another dark why choose romance. I absolutely loved Vengeful Gods and I was so excited to read Poe’s story. Once I read Noire Moon, I was FERAL for more. My high expectations were surpassed and then some. This was EVERYTHING!

“We’re the macabre gods who sit on our thrones and take in an ocean of flesh at our feet every night.”

Absolutely 5⭐️

Oh my lord!! This book!! Hot dang!! I loved Vengerful Gods with my whole entire being but Macabre Gods is my new favourtie. I didn't think if fall as head over heels in love with Poe, Angel, Grey and Hawke as much as I did but I am obsessed. This is dark romance at its absolute finest, Elliott has created a story set in a dark an depraved world that is forced up sweet natured Poe but gives her room to grow and accept who she is including her darker desires. The hurt and healing in this book is something else and honestly this book had me hot under the collar at some points (who am I kidding, I was hot under the collar most of the time, someone bring me a fan) while also sobbing at others.

What I will say is that it is so important for you to at least read Noire Moon before you embark on this journey, as the knowledge that this novella provides is crucial to the building that brings us to this story. Trust me, you'll have such a better experience if you read this before Macabre Gods.

We follow on from the events of Noire Moon to rejoin Poe who has slipped back into her normal life after the not so normal events at Noire House. With only a phone left behind from the mysterious men she gave herself over to, she wonders if she will ever hear from them again. When a mysterious text arrives followed by a stranger, Poe is swept into the dark underbelly of the Anguis. An unwilling initiate into this world and no better than someone's pet taken from their life by force. Poe has to use everything at her disposal to survive under these heartbreaking and horrendous circumstances. Being instructed how to serve while being watched by the three men that have seen her laid bare, Poe has to learn how to swim in shark infested waters while the walls the guys have built begin to crumble revealing their wants and needs. The question becomes in this sick and twisted world will they find eachother.

I could talk about the characters in this book for hours! Poe initially starts off timid, but that girl had a firery streak which I adore and is not afraid to protect those she loves with everything she has. It is so freeing watching her realise exactly what she wants and needs and taking it, leaning into her darker desires and accepting this as part of herself. Angel breaks my damn heart, I adore him so much. Having the privilege of exploring his back story, understanding why he very much owns the protector role within  the group. Elliott has written the ways that he silently communicates with those around him with such care and careful consideration that it reads effortlessly. Grey, the butcher he most definitely is, wild and volatile but steadfast in his loyalty to others. He hides behind his banter, charm and cheeky smirks but there is so much more than meets the eye and peeling back the layers of his character as we read wa so incredibly fulfilling. Oh and how could I forget Hawke, the dominant force within the group, providing that control allowing the others to fall into a state of submission. You can tell how his past impacts him, but how much he cares and wants to do the right thing. Initially he holds himself at such arms length, only wanting to do the right thing, but like the rest of the guys they can't resist Poe.

The plot within this book is absolutely stunning, it definitely focuses more on the characters and reading as they come together after a hard fought battle. But there is the underlying story of the Anguis and Noire House, we also get a glimpse of the workings behind initiation into this world which is so interesting to read. This book is a chunky one, but it flew by, I could not get enough. Every single second or this book was absolutely incredible. In terms of pacing the story ebbed and flowed with parts that had me on the edge of my seat, in tears or clenching my thighs. Speaking of that the spice is top tier, perfectly curated to be carnal at points with the singular focus on release, and points where it is emotionally loaded and feels so crucial for character development.

I can't sing the praises of this book enough and if it isn't on your TBR I do feel like it should be!
