Gonna need a cold shower

First off holy freaking hell. This book is super nova hot.

Don't get me wring its a very dark book but the sexy depravity left me panting and needing to charge my toys.

These men are something else entirely and I could read about them forever and never tire. I absolutely love the way the relationships were shaped throughout the book. Poe brought these friends together even more than they already were. She was the missing piece for them all.

Each man brings something completely different to the table. Hawk brings his domination. Angel is protection and understanding. Grey is chaotic and brutal.

The smut in this book is top tier and this book did not feel as long as it is. I will absolutely be reading anything else Elliot writes or has written because it is top tier.

Hmm, this wasn't as good as the first book. Although I've enjoyed the dynamics, I thought it was missing some chemistry and plot. I wasn't a fan of how Poe's story wasn't more developed, the descriptions only scratching the surface. I couldn't fully connect with any of them really as they all seem to be loosely outlined rather than fully understand their motivations and drive. Can't help but also compare how the spice didn't hit as well as the first book with the other quartet...Enjoyable overall but with so much more potential.

i guess i liked this book. for me this is the true definition of “good”. wasn’t great, wasn’t horrible, just a smidge better than average. if you’re down for some mindless dark romance, this is great! but unfortunately i couldn’t (for whatever reason) really get into this and it dragged a bit.

pros:
  • angel >>>>> i literally do notttt care what you say, that man is everything
  • poe is pretty cool
  • more background on hawke and thorne, and andreas noire in general
  • less cbc/dubcon (i think? compared to book 1) which made this ever so slightly more warm and fuzzy than book 1
  • emerald!!!!! she needs a book

cons:
  • can the author write a complete sentence? this sounds so harsh but i was literally JUST reteaching sentences vs sentence fragments to my high schoolers, and almost every other sentence in this book was a fragment. i was losing my fucking mind
  • both groups in both books are comprised of the same exact tropes. you could replace ky and grey and i wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. i liked all of the characters, but this is truly copy and paste
  • loose ends that i’m sure i should care about (vitto) but kinda don’t?
  • ending felt anti climactic

Oh @elliottroseauthor I see you… making me an addict for another one of your books 😏

And I can’t even blame you- because this is an addiction I will gladly accept! When I tell you I was not ready for this world… I’m not lying. It was sultry,  dark and suspenseful. I want to saw that Poe stood no chance in the Port Macabre world but we know that is not entirely. I absolutely loved how she took charge by embracing her role in this world- she was powerful and dominating even when she was fighting her own battles and healing.

Now Angel, Grey and Hawke- the monsters that I would happily let chase me? 😏 They were dark, brutal, intoxicating, sexy, and possessive but also caring, loving, and soft in their own ways. Poe had them wrapped in her fingers and they didn’t even know.

And while I could sit here and continue to blabber about this dark and sensual romance book- I rather just tell you to go ahead and add it to your TBR and if these words are not enough than make sure to swipe to see if I can convince you otherwise 😏.
