Um WOWđ€Ż I donât even know where to start, but letâs get into it!
I didnât know what to expect going into this book. Idk why I decided that this was the moment to read this, but Iâm sooo glad I did! It was a bit of a slow start, but once it picked up, IT. PICKED. UP!!!!
It was a romantic suspense book, so obviously there was a mystery element to it. I absolutely love mysteries, but Iâm also the person who is yelling âHE DID ITâ after the first character is introducedđ And baby when I tell you I was NOWHERE NEAR the ballpark of who the killer wasđ I wasnât even in the same countryđ„Ž Like I was literally so shocked, but I also felt like Kronk when it started to click(âoh yeah, itâs all coming togetherâ)đ«
And of course we all love a sexy sheriff, and Colter Brooks was definitely thatđ€ cause that spice was definitely SPICINGđ„”
The story definitely wrapped up nicely and I loved how closure was brought to every family in the end, including closure from side stories that even the characters didnât expect.
Overall, this book was amazing and I will definitely be picking up more of Catherine Cowlesâs books in the very near future!
Honestly it was really good!! Iâve read all of her books and have loved pretty much all of them! Itâs definitely a nice easy read and the storyline is just amazing!

I was surprised by this book. I figured it would be more romance than mystery. The development of the story and characters was so good, with the romance secondary to the cold case.

I feel like this book had a lot of promise but I felt like I was reading the Tattered and Torn series all over again đ it was a pretty quick read and I loved the podcast aspect and trying to connect the dots. I didnât expect the twist at the end, I had my sights on another character. I did shed a couple tears for this one, I canât even imagine losing a twin and never knowing what happened. I am glad itâs a standalone, I feel like it was wrapped up nicely and got a happy ending for everyone where it didnât feel rushed.
Catherine is obviously one of the best at romantic suspense and the way she can keep us on our toes, always guessing with all the twists and turns. But this story specifically really stood out to me for how brilliantly this was plotted. I loved that even when our heroine was in trouble, she wasnât a damsel, she was the one trying to get all the answers.
When Ridley had a personal experience with something bad happening, she began a life of trying to uncover the truths. Her podcast Sounds Like Serial has become really popular and she has come to Shady Cove for her next assignment. Unfortunately, not everyone is happy to have her dredging up the past. The town sheriff is one of them and Colt makes that very well known. But they keep getting thrown together anyway and eventually are working together. I really loved the progression of Ridley and Coltâs relationship. They ended up making a great duo to get all the answers.

4.5 âïž i love catherine cowles and was so excited when she announced she was coming out with a true crime novel featuring her classic romance style. this was such a fun story to follow and, like all mysteries, had me on my toes trying to figure everything out. as usual, i was very wrong about the perpetrator. i was shook by the unsub reveal. i love ridley â sheâs such a badass and did such a beautiful thing with her life to honor her sister. i loved her dedication to living fully and not letting fear lead. i know this is a standalone but i hope one day CC returns to shady cove so maybe we can get emerson and treyâs story!
