El libro me ha mantenido en tensión durante casi toda la historia, pero me esperaba otro final. La verdad, era obvio que iban a matar al asesino, pero no tiene mucho sentido el final tan seco que ha tenido.

Really enjoyed this book. Read it over 2 days. A time travelling serial killer who feels required to murder *shining* girls from throughout history. This is entertaining and enthralling whilst making some very strong points about what society does to women as the killer extinguishes the girls' light before they can realise their potential.
Definitely worth a read, I will seek out her other works now.

I haven't been this riveted by a book in a long time. I couldn't stop listening, and when I had to, I was still thinking about it. I wish I wasn't a bit disappointed by the ending, but I'd convinced myself that if Kirby could get into the house and destroy all the totems, the girls would be able to come back, somehow. I hated seeing woman after woman murdered that way knowing that there was no way back for them, so I think I'd made a deal with myself that they would be okay if Kirby could fix everything. But I guess if I'm being honest, that really isn't how life works, and maybe it is important to acknowledge that shining woman lose their lives for no goddamn reason every day, so I guess I'm not really disappointed at all. This book was a gift and I'm glad I came across it. And I'm glad to hear Khristine Hvam's voice again! It's been ages since I've listened to an audiobook of hers.
Graphic: Transphobia and Murder
Moderate: Animal cruelty

Gripping. The bad guy is bad, and how he becomes who he is is well done. The main characters on the good side are complex, flawed, and yet likeable. Kept me wanting to know more whenever I had to put down the book

I enjoyed this book (as much as one can enjoy a book about a serial killer), but it left me wanting to know more. Such as, why were the girls "shining"? Was the killer snuffing out each woman's potential? Why women specifically?
That, and admittedly I have a hard time when time travel is involved. Not because I find it hard to believe—I actually enjoy entertaining the idea of time travel, but because I get caught up with how it affects future (and in this case, past) events. Notably, how did Harper not see his dead, and presumably incinerated self at the beginning? And wouldn't the house have burned down—or suffered considerable damage—in 1932 and negated all of Harper's past actions? Agh! So many questions.

I was really convince that the author was a man using a fake name because this disgusted me in a way that usually only books written by men do. the main concept was interesting but the characters were flat caricatures. it's almost impressive to include the perspectives of so many different characters and have not a single one be fleshed out or interesting. and despite being about a serial killer, the stakes were almost nonexistent and nothing that happened seemed like it mattered.

Whoa this was cool. And horrifying, and fascinating, etc. I would have loved an explanation of what the heck was going on with the house, or more info on where Harper came from but it never really happened (we get a brief flashback from Harper, but it doesnt feel very complete). The story itself, the tight timelines, the perspective changes, etc. Really fascinating and well-crafted. Interesting factoids and well-researched details throughout.
Not for the faint of heart, there's a whole lotta murder, much of it from the killer's perspective, and some decent gore/descriptions in here.
