I liked Lauren's explanation at the back of the book more than the book itself. She had a very neat idea but they didn't come to me through the text. I could have done with more time spent with each of the Shining Girls and less on Kirby and Dan - whose relationship I find a bit dubious. I don't have much interest or understanding of Chicago which bars me from enjoying the setting to its fullest.

Interesting and bizarre. It also made me almost dizzy the way the story jumps around, but it did keep me hooked.

Put this one down and haven't been able to find the motivation to pick it back up :( It's been too long to remember the more intricate details, so I'll have to restart sometime in the future! :)

I read some great reviews on this book and it sounded right up my alley; murder, mayhem and time travel? Awesome! What I got was just..meh. Writing was good. Character development was good. I really can't put my finger on what went wrong here for me, but I definitely didn't like the swiftly wrapped up ending, for one thing! Very unsatisfying. As a reader who just invested a certain amount of time in the story & characters, I felt cheated, and it made the story itself feel hollow and it lost its depth & meat. Yes, unsatisfied (and a little cheated) is how this book made me feel.
