This was a cute fake dating,  between childhood friends turned strangers/rivals. I wasn’t expecting the emotional depth, so definitely check content warnings before diving in. This book is packed with tropes like only one bed, forced proximity, enemies-to-lovers vibes, grumpy and sunshine, and a super sweet grand gesture. The meddling grandfathers were pure chaos in the best way, and the food descriptions had me starving for some Puerto Rican cuisine. Also, Liam was shockingly filthy-mouthed, and that tasting table scene was whew.

While I loved the second-chance childhood friends-to-lovers dynamic, I found the reason for their separation a bit anticlimactic. There were vague mentions of an incident at Kamilah’s prom, but it never got the depth it needed. The final conflict felt more like miscommunication drama, which isn’t my favorite, and the resolution was rushed. That said, I adored Liam’s relationship with his grandfather, and it looks like we might be getting a book for Saint next, which I am definitely here for. Audiobook-wise, Valentina Ortiz killed it as Kamilah. Her narration had so much emotion and really brought the character to life.

The last 2 hours really brought the rating way down. Felt like so much miscommunication and I just don’t quite understand how it all got solved so quickly?

It’s like a 3.5 for me.
