Reason #543 why I love reading Christopher Moore: his description of turkey bowling on a grocery store's night shift: "A collective gasp rose from the crew as the fourteen-pound, self-basting, fresh-frozen projectile of wholesome savory goodness plowed into the soap bottles like a freight train into a chorus line of drunken grandmothers." (from Bloodsucking Fiends)

This was not what I was expecting, but sometimes that's a good thing. This is not your typical vampire love story and Moore is not your typical author. While his characters are a bit flat, he does tell a good story, all the while causing you to laugh out loud. Like many of the books I've read, this is not for everyone. Moore, like Palahniuk, says whatever he wants and makes no apologies if it's not politically correct or hurts your feelings. I personally enjoy an author who takes chances like that. So if you're easily offended, don't read this book or any of Moore's books. On the other hand, if you can appreciate a good laugh then this book is definitely for you.

I read this trilogy out of order. This is the first book and I loved it. I recommend listening to it. A lot of the humor comes across better that way.

Oooohhhhhh this was my first Christopher Moore and let me tell you, I 100% Intend on reading his other books.

I was so pleasantly surprised by Bloodsucking Fiends. I actually laughed, out loud, and I don't do that very often. It was a good story with good characters, the ends all tied up nicely and it was a fun read.

Faults: some parts were a bit stretched, like he wasn't sure how to fit in this bit of information, but those moments were few and far between.

I highly recommend Bloodsucking Fiends if you have a rough sense of humor, a love of vampire-Esk novels and have a good imagination.
