I apparently knew very little about my gut system, so really enjoyed this book, but also would be susceptible to misinformation. I was wary with the preface, because it drifted along the edge of judgmental feelings towards some choices of mothers, but that did not come across in the book at all.
It overall educated me a lot about bacteria in a generally humorous way, but did not sway me into suddenly trying to treat myself for various ailments. The author did a good job of saying here are some possible relationships, but mostly that there is a plethora of information that we just do not kow yet.
And yes, I probably will buy myself some probiotic teas for funzies.

It was just as interesting and informative the second time around. I was surprised at how much I had forgotten but there is just so much good info crammed in there.
I'm not quite sure why this book has been hailed as superbly funny and well written. I thought it was interesting, but a rather traditional popular science take on its topic. It's a good story, and I understand its appeal--it is actually scientific, unlike 99% of the health literature out there--but it's not world literature. Also, you might think twice about the audiobook. I often listen to audiobooks if having lunch by myself. On two occasions I wish I hadn't. On the first one I was hearing about the consistency of feces and on the second, about the process of vomiting while chomping down on food. Nice.
I found this a fascinating book which was easy to read and full of helpful advice.
I was raving about this when I started reading it. Engaging and accessible. I put it down about a fifth of the way through and wasn't that compelled to pick it up again. I hope to again when I'm it's the right time.
I dont usually like these, for lack of a better term, documentary books. But thus one was highly enjoyable, funny and informative. Definite recommend to any and all!
Gut was a really interesting and enjoyable read. Enders presents a lot of information in an accessible and informative way. It was also really helpful for me personally as an IBS suffer, as it made my own experiences and health care make more sense. Thank you!
