Pretty good. Cozy mysteries just aren’t my thing. 2.5 stars rounded up for all the great content about Sicily (which is where I was when I started this).
This book was such a fun read! I adored Auntie Poldi and this made me want to go to Sciliy. I'm absolutely in love with the cover too! I can't wait to read more of Poldi's adventures.
Total impulse pick up based on the cover. A bit hard to get into at first, but Aunt Poldi wins you over. Mystery had me guessing right until the end.

This book is about one fiery woman's involvement in a Sicilian mystery.
When Auntie Poldi turns sixty, she moves to Sicily to begin the next chapter of her life. Her plan is to spend her remaining days with good wine, and beautiful views. However, when her handyman goes missing - and is discovered murdered - she can't help but get involved. Auntie Poldi finds herself caught up in the middle of the investigation and in a romantic liaison with the police inspector leading it.
This book was a fun mysterious ride following Auntie Poldi on her Sicilian adventures. It was lovely meeting such interesting characters and being immersed in such a beautiful setting.
As the book was translated, some of the passages were a bit oddly worded. I also wish the story was narrated by only one person, as I felt the inclusion of Auntie Poldi's nephew was not quite necessary.
Overall, though, this book was fun and engaging. I enjoyed seeing an older protagonist who gets into the same mischief as someone much younger.

3.5 STARS
The premise of this book worked better for me than the actual book did. The idea of a retiree in Sicily inadvertently getting pulled into a murder investigation sounded fun and charming and, while I did enjoy the story, some of the plot points (namely, the romance) felt forced and the translation I read was a bit clunky. Overall, I liked it but didn't love it.

Aunt Poldi is older and depressed, she has moved from Germany to Sicily to drink herself to death but fortunately between her in-laws that live there and the mystery of the death of her handyman she doesn't. This book is the first in the series so there's a lot of time spent on getting to know Aunt Poldi and the town and her in-laws. The mystery part was good, the book itself was enjoyable and I can't wait to read the next in the series!
Looking for a new amateur detective like Miss Marple series to enjoy: look no further than Auntie Poldi. Set in Sicily, Auntie Poldi and the Sicilian Lions is a novel full of mystery and fun. Auntie Poldi is just a delight.
What a cute, funny, Italian murder mystery. I loved this story about a German/Siciliana woman who comes to live in Sicily near her sister-in-laws. The story is written in a way that she describes to her story to her nephew who is writing a book. The details are so lighthearted and the characters just delightful. The audiobook reader is incredibly slow, but very good. It took me a bit to get into the story, but once i did, I couldn't stop listening. Definitely a fun summer read.
