DID NOT FINISH

I don't know why I tried to read this, really I don't... I know Card is a Right Wing Asshole and that it came out in his writing from other books that I have read of his. I tried Ender's Game because I wanted to see the movie and thought I would try the book... Should have just watched the damn movie and forgot it was based on a book written by this ass. I made it 100 pages in, should have stopped at the point where he mentioned women were at a disadvantage due to evolution, but I pressed on noting that like Tolkien this is a world dominated by men/boys. The antisemitism, homophobic stereotypes and some sort of strange form of slang just got to be too much. Life is too short and my to-read list is too long to waste my time with this crap. I'm happy for those of you that enjoyed it, I just couldn't get past what I mentioned above, besides the story also didn't feel like it was going anywhere, not much was happening besides this one small boy being manipulated by adults who wish to use him.

Forever a favorite

death of the author etc. I don’t and can’t know if reading this as a child changed me or just showed my reflection but it’s true either way. Very strange to return after so long.

Fast & enjoyable read - moved along nicely. I'm really glad that I heard the intervew on NPR. Some memorable quotes.

While watching the movie I realized there must be a great thoughtful book behind it. And there was. I enjoyed reading everything but the very end, the aftermath of the battle. It felt laboured, an afterthought. Still, I'm already on the second one.

I love this book and I’ve read it many times but I loathe the ending. Now I just read all the but the last chapter or so to avoid rage face. Win win.
