Came across this as I was checking in books and immediately had to find out how it ended. Did they get rid of the ghost???? Super cute and fun! All that stuff about not being "bat" enough or "cat" enough? But also not able/wanting to be just bat or just cat? So sweet. ❤️
A really cute graphic novel about being true to yourself. Will definitely continue the series!

When I saw this cover I knew we needed to read this! And then it’s about a batcat…. Yes please!! It did not disappoint. It was a cute read as we follow along Barca as he tries to find his place in the world. It was actually kind of sad because he feels like he doesn’t fit in anywhere. But in the end he finds his place. This one was probably a bit too old for my daughter I had to read most of it to her but she still really enjoyed it.
We would absolutely recommend and we will be grabbing the next volume.

Batcat is a delightful tail (a-wink) of identity and letting people into your life.
When a ghost moves into Batcat’s home, shattering their solitude, they seek out the help of a local witch to get rid of the ghost once and for all. Batcat goes on a quest to get the items that the witch needs…and begins learning more about themself and having empathy for others along the way!
Batcat is a sweet and engaging graphic novel told with fun art that pops with vibrant, bright colours. It’s sure to be a hit with young audiences, especially those who are neither this or that.

This was a cute little book about being yourself!
Cute story for middle schoolers/advanced grade schoolers about Batcat who isn't sure if they're a bat, a cat, or just themselves. Loved that this book normalizes using the singular 'they' for Batcat. And the message of 'you can't be bad at being yourself' was also a delight to read. I liked that Batcat learned a lesson in what felt like a very natural way.

This was a short little comic that I read between reads. It initially took me a second to get into but I actually ended up enjoying it. It's a story that celebrates being more than one thing and I think that's an important message for kids. I think mixed raced/biracial kids would really connect to this but it's also (I think) not limited to just this idea. Being gender fluid (me, lol!) also comes to mind. Or just enjoying two (or more) complete opposites: being nerdy AND sporty, creative AND into numbers, being an adult AND liking cute things/YA/enjoying ourselves. Things like that that I feel some people don't accept

Our protagonist Batcat sets off on an adventure to find ingredients that will make a magic potion to un-haunt his treehouse. Being half bat and half cat, Batcat soon finds out how “unfit” they are as either species and grows despondent. But this can’t be the end! As Batcat meets other creatures along the way, they learn that maybe it’s not too bad to be special? It is a lovely story about accepting yourself and nurturing unconventional friendships; even if you look like a pink blob, you can be destined for greatness.
