This series needed to end after Confessor. It's the same old stuff every single time. Evil man uses some unique power no one has heard of to try and rule, Richard and Kahlan get separated (again!), and its prophesied that Richard will save the world. Again. Seriously? Just let them live happily ever after already. I actually pity Richard and Kahlan at this point.

Completely unrecognizable in comparison to Goodkind's earlier works. This is perhaps one of the most disappointing books I've ever read, especially because the Sword of Truth series got me through one of the worst times in my life, which I spent sleeping on the floor of a hospital waiting room for weeks...
There are so many problems that I don't know where to start... Certainly the most annoying is the constant repetition of the same information (nothing new, Goodkind has done this for several books now, but it's gotten worse) which is not only condescending to readers, but past the point of insulting. The dialogue is ridiculous; for instance two villains chat, as if over tea, for an entire chapter about why it's a good idea to kill the protagonist IMMEDIATELY but then amiably walk away without attempting said murder. People in life-threatening danger stop to discuss magical theory, children recount whole chapters worth of dialogue and names, seemingly without error or familiarity, and the most compelling heroine of the series spends the whole book as a damsel in distress...
Sigh.

Not the best of the books, but good enough.

Really extremely poor writing... tons of repetition that is so frustrating to slog through. If you took out the absurd amount of repeated information and dialogue, this book would be about 1/5th the length.

It was...good. The pacing was a little weird, like they spent too much time in some places and not enough in others. All in all the book was good, and I enjoyed it.

Loved it!

I'm so glad I read The First Confessor before this one, since they tie together. I got so excited when I realized how they linked. So good! Can't wait to see what happens next!

Finally got a decent audiobook that worked and finished the book. It was good and the narrator Sam Tsoutsouvas was pretty good except for his one character voice The Emporer was really difficult to understand what was said and thankfully he didn't have much to say.
