The long awaited story of Lennox, Samuel, and Rhys. This is a MMM slowish burn. Watching these 3 overcome life’s obstacles was so good. On true Marley fashion this book doesn’t disappoint!

***ARC Review***

This is my honest and voluntary review for the ARC I received.

Unloved is the second book in Marley Valentine’s The Unlucky Ones series. It’s a MMM romance and it was definitely worth the wait! Marley has such a way with words and the emotions in this book are big. (Omg, that prologue, y’all)! This book will break you down and put you back together. I love the found family that she has created within this series and book. I loved the connection to the first book as well. (Lennox’s feelings about his brother Frankie…gah)! Samuel, Lennox, and Rhys are complex characters dealing with some big challenges. Their One Mississippi, Two Mississippi, Three Mississippi connection gave me life!

Lennox is going deaf. A college football accident (and something from his childhood) are the cause(s). He’s also dealing with some unrequited feelings (at first). Samuel just wants to help his best friend Lennox deal with the sudden changes to his life, while dealing with some strong, yet complicated feelings of his own. Rhys is an addict that is trying to maintain his latest attempt at sobriety. All three MCs are struggling or have struggled with some aspect of their respective family dynamics.

All three men have to overcome struggles and feelings of inadequacy/insecurity. Samuel, Lennox, and Rhys have a lot of chemistry between them. Falling for one another progresses in a natural order and I was a fan of how their relationship and connection helps each of the MCs to heal. The acceptance they give one another is beautiful. I like that this book is somewhat of a slow burn. I also appreciated the vulnerability in this book. It’s a breath of tenderness during some otherwise heavy moments. Rhys, Lennox, and Samuel’s HEA is so well deserved! I don’t want to spoil too much, but there are some (mostly brief) time jumps near the end of the book. The epilogue is pure love! Read this book. It will move you.

Side note: There are some difficult topics in this story, so be sure to check out the author’s note at the beginning of this book.

I feel like I just didn't connect with this book as much as I did with the first book in this series, I really couldn't tell you why.
Maybe I'd benefit from a reread for this one.

This was a great continuation to the series as we get to see the events that occurred in Unwanted from Lennox point of view. Sam, Lennox and Rhys had such interesting stories, as they were all dealing with past traumas. The romance and the connection they shared was really beautiful.

Since we were dealing with three different stories I would’ve liked for it to be a little bit longer, that way could’ve explored what they had gone through more in depth. It also would’ve given a bit more time to truly understand how they fell in love and developed such a strong connection with each other. Since the story was so short, everything felt a bit rushed in my opinion.

Overall it was a great story and I did really liked it, I just think I would’ve loved it more if I could’ve connected more with all the characters. I definitely recommend everyone to read since the whole series is really interesting. Please check trigger warnings.

Thank you so much to Marley Valentine and The Author Agency for providing me with an ARC in exchange of an honest review.
