Fans of TNT’s The Librarians will love this new trilogy based on the TV show. This first book takes place in the past and the future. In the past, Flynn Carsen is on a mission to find Aladdin’s lamp before a criminal organization gets a hold of it. In the future, the guardian Eve Baird and a new group of librarians take on Las Vegas and dive into a mystery involving the Lamp and the djinn it can summon.

I was in library school when the first Librarians movie came out, and while it was kind of silly fun, I never felt the urge to see any of the others. This book, the first of a tie-in series with the new Librarians TV show, was a lot of fun, if not anything profound. Trying to appeal to fans of both the movie series and the TV series, it alternates between a 2006 adventure with the original Librarian, Flynn Carsen, and a 2016 adventure of the new team. It wasn't clear at first how the two stories related together, but they finally did. All told, this novel was diverting enough to keep my attention on a recent plane trip, and I'd recommend it to fans of the movies and/or TV show.

(Note: I received my copy of this book through a Goodreads First Reads giveaway.)

Solid, fun tie-in adventure between TNT THE LIBRARIANS TV series' seasons. First-time read/listened to writer Cox's story which has in-character action, dialogue, time-framed plot and rich descriptive language. Narrator Therese Plummer manages an outstanding range, I felt like I was listening to the TV show's actors. Be warned, there is strong violence so book isn't for all-ages, unlike the TV show's usual tone. But it is an enjoyable outing for both past & current characters surrounding a famous literary heroine and her tale about a lamp, genie, flying carpet, thieves and heroes.

Good companion book to the series, which i've seen some of, but not all yet. Could hear their voices in the style of writing, it was well done.

The copy I read was riddled with grammatical errors but the story was as interesting and absorbing as one of the television episodes.

Book #54 of the EBN challenge at my Library.
Challenge Topic: A book with a heist in it.

This book was awesome! I loved the way the author made a story mixed with history, magic, and tales of old. The Arabian Nights was one of my favorite books when I was younger and to have it be the basis for this story... wonderful. I will definitely read more of his work.
