Notes:
Good narration & fun story. Cool concepts but not enough zing in the story for it to stand out.

Fully admitting that I'm ranking this at a 4 because I really enjoy The Librarians TV show.
If you watch the show, you'll like it. If you don't, you may think it's just okay.

If you are a fan of the show then you will love this book.
The narrator, if you choose the audiobook, does a great job and as mentioned, if you have watched the show you see each person in their role as she reads it.

This would be one of the times where the show is better than the book. The book isn't horrible. It is just flat. I suppose it is because the show came first. Idk, but it tries too hard to be the show.

I never saw the TV series "The Librarians" but this book made me want to go find it and binge watch it. If you are familiar with the series, you are familiar with the basic plot. The Librarians are a group of people responsible for finding and guarding magical artifacts, in order to protect humanity from itself. It is not necessary to have watched the show in order to enjoy/understand the story.
This particular book chronicles the search for Aladdin's lamp (which really did exist, BTW) and tells the story of two searches, one in present day and one in the past. The chapters alternate between present day and past, as in both stories the librarians race to find the lamp before the bad guys get it (and of course the bad guys want to use it for bad purposes - power/money/control/etc.).
The pacing of the book was excellent, it kept me riveted. I enjoyed all the characters and their interactions. I can't wait to read the next one, and also, you know, watch the TV show.

I love the Librarian TV show, however, I found reading this book to be a bit of a drag. I don't know if it was the writing style, the plot movement, or the fact of adapting live action characters onto paper but it just did read well for me. I love the artifact idea and I would have definitely enjoyed seeing Aladdin's lamb in one of the tv episodes before it was cancelled. I'm glad I read the book, however, I don't think I'll spend my time reading any of his other Librarian books.

A cute feel good mystery with enough action to be entertaining. Had the same character and feel as the TV show.
