When Drix and Elle meet at the press conference, they both realize that any chance at a relationship is not possible. Drix is a self-branded “bad boy” (even if he’s the only one who thinks so) that could never date a governor’s daughter, and Elle’s parents would never let their control slip like that.

I dunno bruhh, I literally had Taylor Swift's Wildest Dreams on blast and all but I wasn't really feeling this book. Which was quite disappointing because I had a hard time finding and buying a copy of this one. It had the pretty cover, a pretty okay synopsis, and the title is literally from one of my favorite songs but oh my freaking gods I am disappointed. Where was the plot? Where's the depth?? Where is the freaking substance??? Where's the romantic chemistry that will sweep me off my feet and revive my cold and dead heart?!?!
I was so excited to read this bc the plot sounded really unique and exciting but yeah...

This book was a double perspective book, and sometimes it is hard to find a good double perspective book because somedays it feels like all I read are double perspective books. But, this one might be one of my favourites.
3.5 stars- I had a good time reading this book. I felt connected to these characters. It felt as if I was right in the middle of the drama and could fell the emotions they were feeling. I loved seeing Drix go through the journey of admitting his faults and grow into a better person. I also think that this book shed some light on the challenges that youths in poorer neighborhoods face. Drix's story line is what had me pushing through the book. As for as the romance goes, I feel like it was a little insta-lovey. I would have liked to see them actually get to know each other before the I love you's started flying. As much as I loved Drix's story, I felt that Elle's was underdeveloped. After Drix's showed up it felt like all she cared about was getting to be with him and we kinda lost her story. I also felt like there was some emotional and physical abuse from her parents that was just brushed over. The biggest problem I had in this book was the writing. Some themes and messages were written over and over so much that they became repetitive and boring. There was times where I would have liked more description (like don't tell me a character is sad, show me they are sad). Also, and this may be a personal preference, don't use words like 'frick' or 'dropping the f-bomb' just cuss! Using words like that cheapens the book.
Overall, I think this book had a great story line and good character development. I enjoyed reading this book.

Also, killing the dog was a low blow!! It was just there to add some emotions to an already emotional situation. There was no reason Thor had to suffer to pull a few heart strings!Overall, I think this book had a great story line and good character development. I enjoyed reading this book.

4.5 stars
It pains me that I can’t give this 5 stars.
So let’s start with the reasons why I can’t:
1. Some of the writing and dialogue made me roll my eyes. It’s what you see in typical romance novels that makes people steer clear of the genre. It was a small amount, but there nonetheless.
2. Elle is supposed to be into coding. Which is cool because that’s not something often seen as an interest for girls...BUT WE NEVER SEE HER CODING. I mean, I would believe that she became a whack-a-mole champion before i believed she coded an app. Don’t make coding her thing if it doesn’t fit into her story. Instead, it would’ve made MUCH more sense for her to be interested in something regarding social issues, maybe a human rights lawyer? It would’ve been so much more believable for her to try and get into a program like that, than a coding internship..
Those two points aside, I looooooved Elle and Drix’s story.
I’ve been looking for a romance to fall in love with, and they’re just what I was looking for.
It was kind of heavy and, most importantly, had the angst I needed. There was a part of the story that made me mad. It’s something, that when it happens in either movies/books, I will cry. Every. Single. Time.
Now, give me all the books about star-crossed loves!

This story reminded me of Nicholas Sparks, which is exactly what I needed to get out of my slump. I was engaged through the entire story and fell deeply in love with the characters!
