as most books I read this book was amazing too it was beautiful. Maybe I have a thing with beautiful books but truly this book was beautiful. it showed the importance of family and that family doesn’t have to be related by blood at all.
it talked about a boy who went into juvie for a crime he didn’t do and thought his best friend did but he was ready to take the fall for his best friend because he truly loved his best friend as family and knew that he couldn’t handle it . And during that time the government offered him a deal or a spot in a program that would help those children who’s in juvie but he has to pled guilty and he did and did the program and it’s the thing that turned his life around and made him a better person.
And then he met a girl and that girl was the one to give him hope and happiness and not let the fear consume him and she gave him the courage to continue his life and pick up music and drums and go to college. But their relationship wasn’t easy and was not approved. But they made it through and showed how powerful true love is and the author described that love so amazingly that you can’t help but want to feel a love like that and those deep emotions.
And this book showed how someone can control your life and you let them because you either love them and can’t think that they’d do something like that or that you don’t want to feel lonely so you let that person do what they please.
What kept each person going through this book is each other. every single one of them had such a bad life full of poverty and abuse and drugs and bad parents but they kept going because they had each other. they could lean on each other when they needed it, although they weren’t blood related but they considered themselves as family and they were

Did I read this because I thought the title was a Taylor Swift reference? Yes.
In between reading Katie McGarry novels, I tend to forget the emotional impact they always have on me--Say You'll Remember Me was no exception. At one point I actually sobbed--not quite [b:The Boy in the Striped Pajamas|39999|The Boy in the Striped Pajamas|John Boyne|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1366228171s/39999.jpg|1148702]-level of sobbing (OMG, that ending), but sobbing nonetheless.
I loved Drix and Elle's story. Besides being one heck of an emotional read, it really made me think about so many topics that seem more relevant today than ever--our legal and prison systems, class and income differences, the media, and the motivations and ultimate goals of our politicians. Obviously this is a fictional story, but Ms. McGarry's writing not only made her characters feel real, it immerses her readers into a world that feels absolutely true to life.
After finishing this one I just wanted to sit quietly for a bit and think, still wrapped up in the world of the characters Ms. MsGarry created here. Sadly, life has other ideas--no worries, though, because this is definitely one that will go on my keeper shelf and that I'll be bringing out again...and again.

This book was really cute !
I really liked all the characters and their stories and the dual perspective was well written.
There was something missing from the story - I would have liked to see more of the ‘before’ and ‘after’ that we weren’t privy to - I feel that it may have rounded out the book better.
Overall not my favourite Katie McGarry book but still very good !

This book ugh this book. Fantastic story of friendship and love of Drix and Elle. I hope that one day there will be a follow up maybe 10 years down the road. This is probably one of the first contemporary I’ve read and actually loved.
I mean I "finished" the book by skipping 150 pages to and just reading the last 60 but that's WAY more than I thought I would actually do. This book is the example of why I tend to hate contemporaries.
But look Felicia..at least I tried?

What can I say about this book? I mean, it's what I expected and I enjoyed it. I know when I'm reading anything by Katie Mcgarry I'm going to get angst and drama and there was plenty of that here. And that was what I was in the mood for so on that front I enjoyed it immensely.
Elle and Drix were easy to grow attached to. I was invested in their lives from the start and wanted only good things for them when the world seemed set to give them the worst. Their romance was cute. Was there a little too much 'we can't be together because this is my second chance' angst for my tastes? Probably, but they got there in the end.
Honestly this was going to be a 4 star rating in Goodreads but in reality more of a 3.5 star read but then they had to go and kill the dog. I knew it happened, I'd been given the trigger warning in that one, but why? I am the person who Google's if the dog survives if it's a darker film. I totally understand why John Wick murdered all those people after they killed his dog. I get it! So why did Thor have to die? That bothered me. I knew there was going to be the OTT drama at the end that's crazy and ridiculous but totally sucks me in but why include the dog? I'm not happy and I will never be over it.
But if you can ignore the dog death then you are in for an enjoyable read that will pass a few hours. It also means one less unread book on my shelf which is a bonus for me.
