This was an odd book. I liked it alot at first, and then when the second section began ('I am') I just sort of lost interest. It didn't help that I disliked James as a character I suppose, but the main character was a problem for me too. I understand why she had such a detached tone in regards to the fact she couldn't remember anything, but by the end of the book she still didn't really seem to have much of a personality to me. The best part was probably the character Will but none of the characters felt or acted very realistically in my opinion. I did enjoy the book but on the whole it felt rather flat
Naomi Porter loses a coin toss, falls down a flight of stairs, and hits her head. She awakes in an ambulance with a boy claiming to be her boyfriend who disappears soon after they arrive at the hospital. Naomi soon discovers that she remembers nothing that happened in the past four years. She doesn't know that she has a boyfriend (who isn't the guy from the ambulance), why her best friend calls her "Chief," or that her parents are now divorced. She returns to her junior year of high school as a stranger to herself. Memoirs takes a hard look at the high school experience, and Naomi realizes she doesn't need her memory to find her true self.
I love love loved the characters in this book. Zevin did a fantastic job filling the typical high school roles. I also loved getting to know Naomi as she got to know herself. I was very pleased with this book overall.

I just had the strangest experience of very suddenly remembering that I read this as a teenager. I really love Zevin's adult fiction that I've read, "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow" probably being my favorite book in the last year or two. Seems that I got into her a lot further back than I thought!

When I read the synopsis for this book, I expected it to be better. It was a good story and it had a nice happily ever after in the end, but I expected the whole thing to be more dramatic, and the closer to the end I got, the more frustrated I got about the lack of... Something. I'm no sure what. But I still give this 4 stars because it interested me enough that I read it in a day.
I finished the book in a day so I must have liked it but I can't really explain why I liked it, I just did.

A cute story of teenage romance. Very sweet and breezy and engaging.
Poignant, insightful, and resoundingly thought provoking. Zevin has kept me awake all night with yet another tale of second-chances. Certainly, a proper review to come.
