Brené Brown

The ideas and research are interesting and thought-provoking, but the book itself got incredibly repetitive. By the end I started skimming to get through it...

Great insights and advice. Now on to the next Brené Brown book!

Another win by Brene Brown!

To be honest, the beginning was slow for me. But things really started cooking over halfway through. I loved the description of serpentining: how we spend enormous energy trying to dodge vulnerability when it would take far less effort to face it straight on. Totally my m.o.

And she totally gets parenting. "Are you the adult that you want your child to grow up to be?" That is a powerful question.

"Who we are and how we engage with the world are much stronger predictors of how our children will do than what we know about parenting."
Basically, I can stop reading all those parenting manuals.

Also, "sometimes the bravest and most important thing you can do is just show up."

Dang, I like social workers. Highly recommend.

Fantastic and insightful, Brené Brown provides strategies for being human.
emotional reflective slow-paced

As always, even though the material should be well understood, and even though it's basically just pop psych, I get a good amount out of her writing. Brown does an excellent job shedding light on feelings I avoid and showcasing better ways to manage them without judgement. I've already recommended this book to folks. I will likely return to this again.

Fantastic book. A lot of interesting insights, great stories. It reads like a novel.
hopeful informative inspiring fast-paced

This book had so much information that I wanted to really understand, remember and be able to practice. It’s probably one of the most important books I will ever read.
