this is a great edition of perhaps the dullest book I've read in months. wordsworth has a fascinating ability to always focus on the most dull parts of any subject so that even stuff that should be interesting is banal. sure it's nicely written but at what cost

The 1799 version of the Prelude is probably the single greatest poem of Wordsworth's career. Amazing.

Turns out I like The Prelude a lot. But I still wouldn't invite Wordsworth to a party at my place.

I read this in the first term of my literature degree, and it was one of my favourite books I've read so far. I don't know why it took me this long to read, as my interest in Romantic era poetry is lengthy.

Some passages I enjoyed more than others, I'll admit, but the whole thing comes together in the most beautiful way. Very difficult but rewarding at the same time.

Bliss it was in that dawn to be alive
But to be young was very heaven.

I think I would have liked this better if I had more time to read it and really think on it. As it was it was dense and hard to follow, though the poetry was beautiful. I found that listening to it helped a lot so sometime I might go back and reread it while listening to it.

(just a note: my rating is on my personal enjoyment of reading the work, not on its quality or importance of the work.)

"The mind of man is framed even like the breath
And harmony of music."

Read for uni.

Woah, this was a dense one.
