Reliably intriguing, with a satisfying twist. As a reader, while you have witnessed first hand the events at the beginning of the novel, you will follow the detectives as they go round in circles trying to find the flaws in alibis and grasping at potential new suspects. You wonder if and when the case will crack open for them only to discover that the author has omitted to show you everything. It’s a clever plot as you’d expect from Keigo Higashino.

insanely written like i'm literally shocked. i like how it was written from this outside perspective, almost like a movie and you were watching the characters and the story unfold from a distance. this created a way for the reader to attempt to independently figure out what happened, even though i highly doubt someone was able to figure it out. but wow. i am literally shocked. the writing was so good, the story and characters were so real, and i was so hooked that i literally read at every moment i possibly could today instead of doing homework lolllll. WAS IT ALL FOR NOTHING??!!??!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Fascinating little murder mystery, though it's structurally more like Columbo. The novel begins with a murder that we witness and so we know exactly who the killer is and how they did it. The novel is built around trying to catch the killer!
I don't have a lot to say about it, but it's definitely enticing and addictive. Probably I won't read another one, but I did like this.
