Keeps you hooked , a great book - I enjoyed feeling conflicted on who to support , or root for … ending was great

but heart wrenching - very human ending, rather than something that satisfies the reader. Made me realize no matter how hard someone tries to protect you, can you live with yourself? The ending stays with you long after you’ve read the book , even when you forget the characters names :p

Arguably a very good read deserving of it's acclaim.

Some twists are very clever but all the details of the crime left out in the open and if the reader is smart enough to piece it together, it becomes a show of cat and mouse.

Ishigami mentions time and time again about finding his life's purpose (生きがい) and channels that energy into extreme, selfless 'devotion' as if he were just a pawn.

The ending left me bitter. I could not understand the mentality and psychology of the characters, and felt they were not strong enough for such plot.

I was initially not impressed by this book upon finishing it, however, several months later, it seems I can't stop thinking about it. I don't know where that leaves me but I guess it means I enjoyed it.

Der Mörder ist bekannt und wir verfolgen wie die Äufklärung des Falls statt findet .
Dieses Buch ist durch die sehr lockere und charmante Art von Dr Yukawa sehr erfrischend. Dennoch gestaltet sich die Aufklärung als sehr zäh. Die Geschichte die hinter dem Mathelehrer steckt ist spannend und offeriert zum Ende hin eine Überraschung. Auf der einen Art finden wir wieder großartige Finten, Zusammenhänge und psychologisch spannende Ausarbeitungen vor. Der Schluss ist der Hammer. Es bleibt wie so oft in higashinos Büchern ein ? offen
Trotzdem empfand ich das Buch über weite Teile sehr träge da sich vieles im Kreis drehte und man das Gefühl hatte nicht voran zu kommen da Yukawa seine Erkenntnisse nicht mit dem Leser teilte.
