Fun book about quirky kid, and older kids will get and enjoy the humor.

I read this with my almost-8-going-into-3rd-grade daughter. It came from her school required summer reading list and it wasn't so much chosen as it was picked because it was the only book on the list that we could find at the bookstore at the time. It is actually a 4th grade level book and she struggled with it which is why I ended up reading it with her. My rating is two stars, she would give it three.

I found Clementine to be rather annoying, she never pays attention and doesn't stop and listen and do, perhaps this hit a little too close to home for me. ;) My daughter thought Clementine was fun and creative, which my daughter is so I can understand her enjoying reading about a kindred spirit. The story is cute enough - adventures of a creative, loving child; the ups and downs of friendship; the love of family - all good things for kids to read about, just not my cup of tea, and I have read children's books before that I've thoroughly enjoyed.

What a nice story with great illustrations. I read along with the audiobook and that was good too. Clementine gets into a bunch of antics and I suspect she has ADHD. She gets called into the principal's office a lot, can't sit still, has wild creative ideas, and is a bit messy. Near the end you can tell that beyond her easygoing self is a kid that finds it tough knowing that all these characteristics are 'bad'. Between sobs she says "I won't be like this anymore!.. I won't talk so much and I'll clean up my room...I will never loose my homework...and I will sit so still..." And it's actually heartbreaking. But I think it's nice if a kid reads this, relates to her, and sees the positive sides to her too.

I do not share the same love for Clementine as Molly (we read this aloud to each other). I feel like she is Junie B. Jones aged a couple years... So her grammar is better but she still gets herself into messes. I do appreciate that books like Clementine and Junie and Judy Moody are centered on a plucky character girls can relate to, but Ramona is still better in my mind. :)

Excellent - if I was teaching younger grades I would have this as another gem in the read aloud diamond collection. The illustrations take it to the next level from great book to enduring classic.

Very similar to the Ramona Quimby books, although not as original.

I thought this was the cutest and funniest book I've read in a long time that was s children's book. This sends the cutest and sweetest message about having a bad day and trying to make e best of it. Out of all the trouble and drama clementine goes through she seems to keep a pretty positive attitude throughout it all and she also keeps in mind others and trying to make them feel better. Which sometimes gets her in a bit of trouble

Read aloud with my younger daughter. Very cute. Clementine was not as annoying as Junie B., but not quite as cool as her predecessor, Ramona.
